Stardock Central download problems

OD in Stardock Central shows premium skin not installed and it won't finish the install process (hanging up at install action). However the Turbo skin as noted in the readme text is installed.

The premium suite folder under C:\program files\stardock\object desktop\premium suites has only a readme text that says the suite "Quest" is supplied, however there is nothing else in the folder, yet it shows as installed in SD Central.

WB6 won't update. It sticks at install actions. It can't be canceled, so you have to close SDC. The same happens with sound packager.

Are there any fixes for these problems that I have misses?

Thanks for any help. :NOTSURE:  X-(

try

right click on it in SDC
archive > download and archive

then restore the archive

I tried it but install still hangs at "applying install action". Trying to reload from the archive showed the new version number.

yes

look in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds

for the skin

I tried archiving and updating, I tried archiving with skins and updating, the same as above happens. I read a trouble shooting article that said "wblind.dll becomes locked from changes if you have ever uninstalled it before", and "if you attempt to update andthis file isn't replaced...things can get funky."

Should I just download the newest version from the product page and install over the top of the old version and if I can, will it take all of the skins I've collected be lost? Thanks for any info guys!!!!!! :SNIFF!:

Angus . . try this:
  • Manually archive WB
  • Turn off auto-archive
  • Update

I am having in issue with all of my installs not completing. When I first installed SDC it ran everything the way it was supposed to, but after restarting and attempting to download more programs, it does not finish the install process. It shows the extraction and install get to 100% but then restarts and then continues on past 100% and restarts again. I have no idea what this means. I let the install for IconX run over night to see if it would finish the install, but it still never completed at over 33,000%

If you are using Vista, try running as an admin.

Zubaz,
Frustrating thing this install problem. I contacted Stardock support and got the standard wait 2 business days reply, but as yet (4 days) no reply forthcoming. Would I just be better off downloading the newest versions of WindowBlinds and Sound Packager and doing an install that way, and would I have to uninstall first?

I continue to have update problems with Window Blinds and Sound Packager. They both go through a download routine and then through the install phase and then the progress bar just keeps moving and nothing happens. The programs never update. Below is my sys info from WB:

If I can't do updates through SDC, is there a way to get the new versions as stand alones so I can just install them? By the way, I am writing here again because I never did receive an answer or even a confirmation email from support. I love these programs guys for what they can do, but I've never had so many problems. Thanks for any help!!! :SNIFF!:

Angus . . try this link and reinstall SDC on top of your current version: https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp

If you din't get an email response it may have been eaten by a spam filter on someone's side. Go to https://www.stardock.helpserve.com/ to see if you have a case and if not, create one there.

Sorry your having so much trouble my friend. It's not usual.

hum.. I have to admit I have been having Install issues ever since I got Object Desktop.

But I found that if I manually launch the sdcentral file from the original Stardock folder that SDC updates fine then..

Its a wierd glitch but in the end I get everything updated..

Just wanted to point out my slight glitch.

Angus Yes the Stardock support here is among the Best :D I wish you luck and I wish I had more to offer.. Good Luck

Me thinks I need to make a 'copy and paste' for these xml debacles....... ;p

angus1949:
WWW Link

If that is already installed:

Start/ Run/ type (c/p): %windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i

....now do the updates.

I am having similar issues. When I double click the sdcentral_setup to install it, I go through the motions of filling out info then it installs about 3% and hangs up for about 2 minutes before giving up.

It stops on C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\sdc.ico

Then it pops up with a Perfom Rollback window.

After the rollback it tells me Error: Could not write file, your disk may be full. I have 3 gigs space remaining. Does it seriously need more?

I have seen the above solutions about "manually" installing. If thats to be the reply, please provide a step by step walkthrough because Im n00bers when it comes to messing around with files.

Same problem with me. Stops at "applying install actions" Can't cancel, must quit Stardock Central. I tried the below suggestion, did nothing.

Dunno, what to do.
