Make the "Weak manufacturing" etc descriptions matter!

Why only do the Korx actually have a dysfunction as per their description?

So far, the only race i've seen exhibit a weakness as per their racial description are the Korx, with -20 loyalty. However, Torian's do not have something like -10 or -20 to research, or the Drengin, Humans do not have a negative modifier in social & military production, the Thalans do not have any negative military modifiers neither do the Altarians, and the Drengin & Korath absolutely have no negative diplomacy ability that would extend to other evil races.

Some traits do get represented in TA by the race specific improvement buildings, but some are still underdone. The Iconian research skills are not weak, their rather good after they research the first lab technology.

Alterians and Thalans are implemented? I guess my SDC isn't catching that update.

BTW the Drath have a -20 Pop Growth. As for every other race that was released prior...maybe they will get something in the last beta patch.

I'm simply looking at the racial abilities from raceconfig.xml, which is why Altarians, and the Thalans were included their not in TA yet however.

I forgot about the Drath, since their description talks about weak economy not weak population growth specifically, though i've never notice it hamper them too much in my games..maybe its cause their so good at making people to go to war that they rarely have to waste troops.

But so far, the racial descriptions have been misleading on the specific disability of that race, and thus making pre-game strategy making very hard as you cannot rely on your enemies weaknesses, except in case of the Drath, and the Korx. Not to mention, making the equation unbalanced since some races are given disabilities that affect them in reality, and some races just in a line of text but remain otherwise normal. The Torians for example, are usually on top of the research chart rather than bottom of it, even with their weak research improvements(they just make up for it by spamming more of them, or spy/conquer other races for better ones).

AFAIK the Drath's tree is set up to screw them economically - but otherwise that's it. Not even sure about that, since I really don't play the Drath anyway.

There is a post around here talking nothing but about the Drath's startup in TA now being an economical nightmare. When I played them, I tossed points into pop growth +25. I know it kind of defeats the purpose and flavor of the race, but if you think about it, that was 2-3 points that weren't placed in the typical places....

Out of the gates they are slow economically. Once you get the techs for War Profiting and you get wars rolling, your looking at about 1k a week in income that'll easily make things better.

I second that, I didn't even boost population growth but, after a brief crash, researched war profiteering and initiated a massive free for all. Once you've paid the "overhead" of initial bribery (and the occasional gift to keep the sides fighting), the Drath economy runs fine, in an unconventional sort of way. Admittedly I haven't tried to run a war economy with the Drath yet, but then if you want to fight your own wars you should probably be playing a different race. What's the point of being a shape-shifting, dark energy-wielding, callously manipulative dragon if you have to scrabble around in the muck like any mere ape?
