Invisible text

I had messed up my game by half installing the Star Trek mod and recently did a clean swipe and reinstall. I updated dread lords and DA as well. When I run the game, everything works fine and I can play it just fine except that all of the text on the menus, titles, descriptions and pretty much everything else is invisible. I can click on everything and through memorization I can play a whole game...but it is a considerable inconvenience. All help is appreciated.

Try uninstalling the game (including deleting the GalCiv folders in C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming, and in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2), then reinstalling.

Your 'clean swipe' may not have been clean enough.

It's a common issue, sometimes windows doesn't handle the fonts right away after a new install. A simple reboot is all it takes to fix.
