Is it possible to receive WB updates without installing Stradock Central?

I might be wrong but I believe the link in your email will always lead you to the latest non-beta update of that particular version. Problem is how to know when there's an update.

I highly recommend SDC keeps you up to date and allows for things like archiving....

Absn - I use the link in my e-mail or I logon to the Stardock site. Once you logon you are able to access your account. That gives you links to all your purchased programs. You can download the most current version from there and install it via the individual program installers. That's what I do. I'm not a SDC fan.

Hi MeSleeper, thanks for your advice. By the way why aren't you a SCD fan?

Most often the links are pointed to the latest software. However any beta or last minute updates will be available through Stardock Central. It is highly suggested to use this software. We don't place spyware or any such junk in SDC. It is merely a tool to better service our customers with one or more paid products. Hope that helps.

Absn - I'm sure SDC is a good and safe product to use. I don't use it because I'm anal retentive about what I put on my hard drive. It's not important to me to have the most up-to-the-minute build of anything. I upgrade only when there's a change in the version number.

SDC installs extra files related to the various forums, the webpages it links to, and a handful of other unnecssary file/information. I own three SD products - WB, DesktopX and Skinstudio. There's not a lot of update maintenance to worry about with those programs. All are excellent and stable. If I owned the entire Object Desktop Package, I might feel differently about SDC, but I don't, so as far as I'm concerned SDC is simply an unnecessary middle man for doing what the program installers should be doing. Not an indictment, just my preference.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks again MeSleeper for your helpfulness.

@ Seabass - I don't think you place spywares in your program, but I don't like to put programs in my laptop unless they are tightly necessary.
