WindowBlinds Task Panel Not Skinning

Hi there
I have recently purchased a new computer and have loaded up everything from SDC with no problems (I purchased Object Desktop a while ago now).
I chose to install Windowblinds 6 thinking the upgrade might fix my problem from when I was using Windowblinds 5 on my old computer, but it hasn't.
The Task Panel in all blinds applied refuses to be skinned. Sometimes when I first log on it is skinned but while using the comp it unskins and I am left with the classic view on the Task Panel. I log out and log in and occassionally this initially fixes the problem but then it disappears again. The rest of the blind is always ok.
Here are my details from System Info:
WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.01 (build 40 x86)
WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC
Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.
(SyncMaster 930B/930BC/930BF/198B(Digital)) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
Wblind.dll 2007/11/06 19:17:20
Wbsrv.dll 2007/11/02 14:33:04
Wbconfig.exe 2007/11/02 14:30:08
Wbload.exe 2007/09/27 17:47:44
Wbhelp.dll 2007/08/27 11:54:07
Wbui.dll 2007/11/06 10:13:05
Tray.dll 2007/09/12 17:58:21
Screen.exe 2007/11/02 14:33:51
Would appreciate someone’s help.
Thanks.

Now that sounds odd.... never heard of that before.
Which Windows? XP or Vista?
Does it happen with all skins? (WB5/WB6 skins)

XP Pro (32x) now and previously XP Home, yes all skins, even 'Diamond' by Stardock Design that came with WB6. I did find a post by someone about the same problem but they didn't seem to get a response.

My only suggestion would be for you to directly contact Stardock Support support@stardock.com and let them know of your problem(s)
I'm sure they know of a solution, if no one else beats'em to it, here on the forum

Could you take a screenshot of how that looks, upload it somewhere and post that here?

ColourIT ... if that screenshot is from your PC, it won't display. You must link to a shot posted on the web. Try uploading at WWW Link and link to your uploaded shot.

oh dear I am now having trouble with registration on imageshack.us, will get the pic as soon as I figure this out, lol

ok I'm registered, can you see the pic now??? Sorry for the mucking around, this is all new to me.
The image was available before you registered.  :)  It looks like you just pasted in the wrong url.  I always use the last one listed from imageshack, the one with no code, just the address.

Stardock techs will be along shortly to advise I am sure.

oh good it works, and I don't think I am registered like I thought, but never mind as long as the image works now.Hey thanks to all for helping me, I am really interested in what the solution will be, I've become attached to my windowblinds.

Well, it seems no one has anything to say about this problem! Perhaps this will help or ... not. On observation after applying Windows XP style then re-applying the windowblind 'Diamond', the task panel was skinned upon opening My Documents, then after opening another folder the task panel does not show - only the icons do, when I arrow back to My Documents the task panel appears and is not skinned. Unusual you might say! I hope you can help because it really is interferring with my enjoyment of the windowblinds. I also went to Microsoft to see what they said about theming, and I checked services.msc and gpedit.msc, they said what what they were supposed to. Then I did not touch but looked at the registry and what they said should be there was not there, supposing I looked in the right place that is. Here is the article, you probably already know of these things, but I have no clue so your own knowledgebase would be a great response. Thanks. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883391/en-us http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555512/en-us. Sorry about the bad layout, I can't figure out how to put space between paragraphs in here...lol. I also got this message but am unsure now if it was related to theming, "Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Space bar  :)

or
you
could
hit
the
return/enter key
to start a new line

or leave a space between lines

makes it easier to read then
Of course I have hit the return/enter key, it hasn't worked here. and my preview doesn't work either and one space from the space bar is not what I am looking for, unless you mean something else. I try a return now,If it works I'll scream because it definately didn't before.

ok then how about

Horizontal Rule

working or not

not great but gives a new line

space bar expect he ment hold it down till get to end of line
Reply #21 Top
Horizonal rule, mmmm

I see, well it will be better than one big whopping para

Yeah that is an idea, I could space all the way across but my mind says there must be a way to do this, it's html code right?

So what is the code for a paragraph return?
well that is right royally spacious for sure, lol

For your Task panel problem, maybe at some time by mistake it was set to always use a skin that has no shellstyle, or a skin you've since deleted - check where it says "Check Here"
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

"task panel does not show - only the icons do" -
For this check Folder Options and check 'Show Common Tasks in Folders'

If this doesn't work, the shellstyles are '.xps' files and some spyware preventer programs stop these from functioning correctly. And I think they only work on XP and above.Good luck.

I reported this during the beta testing. See #288 I'm not aware of it getting fixed because I turned off "Show Common Tasks....."
