Performance problem

I have a problem since some months ago

Ok, its me again xD
I have a problem since some months ago, I was trying to fix it but since I did´t found how, I came here for some help ^^

My ObjectDock always get damn slow (at performance) after I open a game (Like HalfLife or SpaceCowboy), even it have a awful performance after I run my screensaver (MacOS screen savers)

Sometimes I have the same problem when runing Graphic software (Like Photoshop, 3DMax, etc).

Some one knows how fix it how is this a normal bug that will be fixed?
Actually the only thing I can do is reboot my system (not always works)

BTW, this only get fixed when I have any Adobe program (photoshop, ilustrator, etc) open. If I close them the performance on OD get really slooooow again.

Info:
> OS: Windows XP - Service Pack 2 - Home Edition
> ObjectDock Plus 1.9
> 1GB RAM
> 1.8 Intel Centrino Duo processor

> I use Flyakite, but I have this problem before I install it.
> Run with 1280x800 screen resolution. 32 bits color deep.

Not an expert, but it would appear that what you are running besides ObjectDock could be using up your resources. I would think games with bunches of graphics could slow things down. Just a thought, how many programs do you have open at one time? Multiple graphics programs open, I would think could bring down performance.

I'm sure one of the folks with a lot more experience then me will be buy.

Start removing docklets.  One of them is likely the issue.

Here is couple of videos showing my problem:

Full demonstration:

Before and after:

I suggest watch first the full demonstration.
Its my first time using screen cap, so expect some odd results (like frame skipping).

Looks like your running into video memory issues. Your 1 gb of ram is probably shared. In other words your video memory (probably 256 mb) comes off the 1gb leaving you with only 768mb for the system. That's actually pretty marginal and your computer probably has to page to the hard disk a lot.

When you run a graphics intensive program like a game or screen saver it grabs all that video memory and OD is set to optimize for memory so it doesn't "take it" back immediately. Adobe manages memory better than a lot of other products so it seems to "Fix" the problem. Try setting it to optimize for performance and see if there's any difference.

The best thing you could do is buy a video card with it's own memory.

I read your original post as saying that only the Object Dock slows down, not your entire system. I'm not sure that's how Lantec read it.

Which ever it is (and you might want to clarify), after the problem arises does it help to just unload/close Object Dock and then start Object Dock again?
