WB6 Issues

I've read a lot of posts here and all seem to have replies saying to purchase the real thing, so I'll start by saying I actually have purchased the full object desktop suite.

The first time I installed WB6 it ran fine on XP, no problems at all. I recently upgraded my computer and had a new hard disk and so on. After installing SD Central and downloading the latest WB6 it asked me to restart, and so I did, however window blinds wouldn't start up, so I tried it again and it came up with the window where you can restart now, restart later, or use an additional process. I've ended up trying all three, at one point it started working fine again, however I had a new issue - window blinds would reset to the classic windows 98/nt etc. type theme every time you restart the computer. Yesterday after getting fed up with this I decided to try uninstalling it and re-installing it, however now I'm stuck where I can't even get the application to start as it keeps asking me to reboot or use an additional process - none of which are working.

I am just curious as to if Avast! antivirus may have anything to do with it. I tried disabling it, though I'm not sure if I have done so properly or not to let WB install right.

I was also wondering if perhaps there was anything in windows that may affect it.

you show as being a past customer and I don't think you'd be able to install WB6 unless you're a "Current" customer. You may need to verify that you using the right account if danny669 is not the account you purchased with.

Okay, I just checked, the email for my purchase says:

Product Name : ObjectDesktop.net 1 Year Renewal
User Name : Daniel Bentley
Email : danny669@gmail.com

This was on may 19th this year. I've never used these forums before to my recollection, so I just tried logging in with the username and password I use most often and it worked so I assumed it was correct, I never realised I may have had several accounts, either way I know for a fact I did renew the package.

I can give you the order number and everything if you want but I don't know for the life of me how to log into a specific account on here.

<-- danny669, I searched through my emails and found this username, perhaps this is the account where it is registered?

Danny669 you should contact support@stardock.com. Explain everything to them as you did here in your original post. They can clear things up for you and get you back to working again. Post back when you are back up and running.

I assume from the above danny669 and Athori are the same individual, then try using the Athori username and the danny669 at gmail dot com registration. If that doesn't help email support at stardock dot com and reference this post.

Danny,

You had two accounts with us, one had a nickname of Athori, and the other had Danny669. Both used the Danny669@hotmail.com addy, so the Database was confused.

I have merged the two accounts into one, should work now.

Okay - now I can't login at all on SD Central. I tried to re-register my Serial for Object Desktop with my email as danny669@gmail.com and it's saying the email address entered doesn't match your records. Also when I try "Lookup Serial Numbers" button and type in danny669@gmail.com it says "The email address you have entered has not been found, please try again.". Thing is, I've never used any other email address so far as I remember.

Edit: Ah, it seems to work with @hotmail.com, however I don't remember ever using that address, is there any way to change it to the gmail one? Yes, I'm a newb I know :/

Okay, so back to the main issue - Now I've gotten everything working again, I went and re-installed SD Central, and then the whole Object Desktop suite again, but the issue is still there, when I start windows, the windows aren't skinned still. I have to open the config menu and set a skin each time I restart my computer.

Do you have an Nvidia graphics card and if so are you using Nview?

Are you using any other desktop customization programs (from someone other than Stardock)? When you installed did you turn off any firewall, or anti-virus programs?

Edit: Open Windowblinds Configuration > System Info and paste the info in this thread

Nope, and I didn't, perhaps I should uninstall it, and re-install it with anti-virus turned off?

yes &any firewall including Windows Firewall

Okay, that didn't work. I made a shortcut in the startup folder for wbload.exe and that seems to have sorted it pretty much now, though it doesn't skin as soon as windows starts, it loads the skin a few seconds after the desktop loads.

Still a good idea to post this as there may be some file(s) that need correction.

You got that funky screen.exe file that I've seen in another thread with your same issue. I have the same build but my screen.exe has a different time 18:37:51

Edit: the other thread WWW Link he contacted stardock and I saw on IRC that he got his problem sorted out and it had to do with Nview

Meh, that nview says it's disabled though >.< Well, I guess I should contact stardock support then. Thanks for your help though either way.
