Okay, you set spending to 100% overall and 100% military.

First thing you do is focus social if no starport and then get a starport built. Then you take the focus off social and fill all the tiles with charging ctalks.

Occassionaly, you switch from 100% military to 100% research when:

You need a key technology such as sensors
You see no habitable planets in view and you're producing colony ships too fast relative to how fast your survey ships are exploring and how fast you're colonizing to increase range.
Your planets population is depleting too fast and you need to build it up a bit before more colony ships are produced.

The only building other than charging stalks that you need is Orbital Terraformer which you can simply outright purchase.

In terms of ship design, you want to use the size-66 ship with full engines in order to slow down production a bit relative to how fast you can explore and reach your destination.

Drengin, who? Yor are the true power!

Is this strictly a starting strategy? Even if it is, I have to question the logic of not building any factories or labs. While it's nice that charging stalks will build even without social spending, they really don't compensate for the complete lack of production.

You get research through quantity. Once you have enough planets you don't need labs. Most of the good Yor techs are cheap anyways. You can also get techs through research treaties and spies.

If you have enough planets and money you can win however you want.

You can get a great deal more colony ships out there if you have factories, and the initial colony/capital do not provide nearly enough in that regard. You'd also end up with a significant tech disadvantage if you tried to run without any labs or factories for any significant amount of time.

What difficulty have you tried this on?
