I tried a web search and all I could find were posts that said bad things about it. It looks as though it can only be had as part of one of their larger packages.

I even tried Major Geeks and couldn't come up with a link.

Of course anyone reading is saying no.......stay away from Norton!

What does it do, and can you find another program that does the same thing?

If it just checks your disk for probs and fixes it you could use McAfee

Disk Doctor was only available as a part of Norton Utilities. The last version available as a trial was 2001 Download Link

Never did like it though - XP's built in checker sorts disc problems just fine. Go to a command prompt and type chkdsk , then enter, and see what it says. If it indicates a file problem, do the same again but type chkdsk /f . If you think you have a disc problem and files may be lost type chkdsk /r , which should sort out any major problem - but /r does take a lot longer than /f.

Kitty, Fuzzy'a right. It's part of Norton Systemworks. I've been a user of Norton Systemworks for years and I noticed that it does not really seem to have kept up with the competition over the past few years so I spent some time researching the net and trying out different products and finally settled for TuneUp Utilities and PerfectDisk which seems to be a popular choice of people who seem to know more about computers than I do. If you are really hell bent on having Nortin Diskdoctor - all it seems to do is 'jump start' the Microsoft prog that you already have which Jafo eluded to then the you can download one of three of the latest versions at the Symantec site WWW Linkranging from $49.99 to $99.99 or you can get an older version of Systemworks on Ebay for a lot lot lot less..........
