Gears of War - incompatibilities with WindowBlinds

For whatever reason, running WindowBlinds (v6.01 here) has caused issues with users running Gears of War for PC. I and a few others on the Epic forums have had to unload the app, otherwise the game crashes a few minutes after loading. Just a heads-up for everyone

Is this working better for you if you add GoW to the Settings->Change the look of an app list within the WB Config dialog and choose the option for total exclusion? This should have the game run better for you (as you don't really need to skin fullscreen apps anyway ).

Would you believe, I assumed that WindowBlinds ignored fullscreen DirectX apps. I'll add it to the exclusion list and give it a try tomorrow, thanks for the suggestion.

Confirmed. I had the same trouble and excluding is the very best way to fix it. This is with a Vista install I didn't test on XP.

Excluding did nothing on my system and I am running Vista. The only way I can get further than the menu is by unloading WindowBlinds. Once unloaded, the game runs fine.

Strange, setting an exclusion for the Gears app works fine here - XP SP2 with WB6.01

most gamers know to turn off any extra services/programs as you play, to reduce the strain on available resources. doing so for WB would be no exception.. go here for a comprehensive list of services in vista/xp/2000. WWW Link

I bet the game doesn't crash with Aero skinning it. That's just so weird...
