im not saying this to aggravate anyone of you but i would like to tell you my ideas of moderator ratings and protocols.......
and i do consider the fact that a bunch of people uploading causes the need for more bandwidth or site performance issues.and i know that can possibly be why you guys are so strict on what gets uploaded....(i might be wrong) BUT:::

when a skin or wallpaper goes through "moderation" it shouldnt be judged by moderators in a sense of quality it should only be judged on copyright infringement protocol, and antiprofanity protocol.


you should let the consumers/end users/downloaders choose wheather its good or not and how can anyone do that if its stuck on a non directly accessed site which is its makers profile?? if it were place in the gallery automatically the maker would know almost within a few days if its any good or not! one persons likings are different from anothers.

more simply put, if the moderators dont like what you have rendered or made in a illustration program or whatever you use, it shouldnt matter to them! because thats the moderators opinion, not the opinion of the people downloading!

for and example, i actually browsed all the way from 5 star- to 2stars and saw all kinds of professionaly done wall papers and skins rated at 2 stars! and some of the two star rated content was way better than the 5 star stuff!

ohh geeze here we go again. lol naw im just kiddin.....very right again tho PO!

i overplay my self admitted not so great art thats for shure! i do down play my So Called Actual hand drawing talents! up untill recently i realized that i actually do have talent as far as sketching and shading with pecils...which brings me to another view in accordance with your statement about downplaying and my statement of overplaying::::


-there is a fine line between overplay and noticing that you have talent and are excited to show it off! i overplay my works here in defense of my veiws of what moderation should be regardless if they are good or not....

not only have i been overplaying my, and i will admit again, my not so great and questionable work, but i have been advertizing my works as some one said i should do. i think it was you in fact, i cant remember tho...

im settled on this topic, as i am now aquainted with the answers to my original post. i just simply need to get better and not set my bars high!

im still not mad after all that i said and all that others have said... i might have barked but it was my misinterpretation of what people have said that led to it but not because of the fact i cant get my art into the gallery thats not of my own..

Thx for taking the time to all of you who tried to open my eyes to this subject...you finally did!
im sorry you wasted your time trying to do so! now that i noticed i look stupider on here than i really am for all of what was said in this thread.. for all the time you wasted, i had earned my demise! sorry again!

Sublime........the wall on your desktop shot would make a pretty good logon and maybe bootskin........why not try presenting your art to the community in this way and once accepted to the public gallery, you then have the comment area to link to your personal gallery for people to pick up the matching wall if they wish. It gets your name and work out there for people to become familiar with and rate/comment as well as extending your skills while you hone your artistic skills........better than linking from the forum for feedback......

I can assure you it works.......I don’t upload a lot.......but there have been days I have gone into my Skins page and there have been just under half my submissions with downloads......going right back to the first ones........always surprises me......and that’s only from gallery links.......

the standard of the wallpaper gallery at the moment is at the highest, I think, since I’ve been here, making it a bit more of a stretch.......don’t put all your eggs in the one basket.........try a few galleries in the meantime.......

you know thats sounds like a plan! ive thought about it but maybe now i will act on that algorithm!
although i do not know how to make a bootskin or a logon...i tried the logon approach but it was a little trickier than i expected. the bootskins are something im skittish about because it deals alot with system files just like logons or wblinds but on a more intimate level with startup files that include ones that can lead to highly unstable loading if misplaced or reconfigured......

i already had a few BOD's using Bootskin so far (BOD's are blue screens of death) these BOD screens contain a memory address with highly erroneos code loaded into it (i.e. stuff like the following:: "Ex000909888 You computer suffered a system failure. you may need to restart your system to help fix this problem.. if this problem persists, contact microsoft")

if i can learn a little bit about these two apps you mentioned (i will probably lookup some stuff today on how windows loads and what files there are that play a role in this process and how you can modify them without creating erronious code, then i might feel alittle bit more comfortable
as in i dont want to create something that will wreck someones day or computer in the likings...

bootskins and logons do interest me nonetheless! thank you sydney for the insight on that idea that i had forgot about for over three months! you all here on WC are pretty tactical when it comes to this stuff thats for shure..i gotta start thinkin like you all!

Both are applied with 3rd party applications from Stardock.  Neither actually alter the OS system files in any way...and are 'recoverable' if a skin load is found to be faulty.

Both are good entry points into the 'more complex' skinnables such as Windowblinds...
