Lets move on with what is sure to be the best round yet!!!

Hi guys,

Just thought we would move all round 4 discussions here, so no need to troll across three or four threads to find out whats going on.

For those that do not know we are going to have a draft this round. The five teams will get two (2) draft picks each, and beyond that i will randomly place the rest of the teams as i did prior to round 1.

The draft will take place in reverse order of the league ladder,

Team E
Team A
Team B
Team D
Team C

The only players not included in the draft is the 5 captains, as they will do the picking of players. That being said i need to appoint a captain to team e, and since this was discussed i will delay no further.

Silverbeacher is the captain of team e.

The team captains are,

Team A = Dethadder (2nd)
Team B = MarshallOneill (3rd)
Team C = Firebender (5th)
Team D = Kzinti (4th)
Team E = Silverbeacher (1st)

These players are exempt from the draft.

So if we can get on with it, Silver make your first draft pick, then follow on in order guys. I will record the teams as we go.

Once the draft is complete and the teams assigned, i will update this OP with the new teams, also once draft is complete continue on with out discussions here please, it will so much easier than having to check 3 threads.

Thanks guys, i really believe that round 4 will be (mind the cliche) bigger and better than the others!!!!

As the team membership is being changed for this round, could we get a pssword change or re-set for the various team forums at the core? It would be useful for any team strategizing.

hey guys just in case anyone's following the news, the fires in San Diego county have gotten crazy. i'm okay, as is my home, though i don't know if i'll check in again before the round gets going. i'm kind of surprised i still have internet at home. the university where i work was closed for the week. at this point almost 300,000 acres have burned, and the air quality has deteriorated to the point of presenting serious risk in some areas to those with existing lung conditions.

i spent yesterday helping people evacuate in Solana Beach. i'm taking some old books and board games to one of the evacuation sites today before i see if it's okay to head up to the evac zones again. so anyway, i just thought i'd mention it... please find a place in your thoughts/prayers for the thousands of people and families displaced by this disaster.

As Drengin is now in the League this will probably be easier than ever. Certainly this will occur however we will also need another forum and shouldn't this wait until the team memberships are all decided? I suppose the captain and the first draft pick could potentially discuss the 2nd pick prior to selection but you could as easily do that with a PM or two. In any case I'll poke the admins at the Core so they know this is coming, but as I mentioned Drengin may just set it up without being asked.

OK I put in the request for this in the mod area. Whether Drengin does this or some other admin probably doesn't matter much. I requested that the new password be PM'ed to the team captains.

Note that since KzintiPatriarch did make the Team D draft selection he is now the deFacto captain of Team D and he would get the password for distribution to Team D. The other team captains remain unchanged.

If/when I know what's happening in this regard I'll let folks know.

y'know...i actually feel kinda bad for FireBender; its not even the end of the first round of picks (well, ok just his is left) and he's already lost 3/5 of his former team Not saying that there isn't some AWESOME players still out there


Also, Dystopic, our prayers and thoughts are most definitely with you and others in So. Cal, I'm glad and thankful that everything has gone so smoothly so far, even with all the destruction, and I hope that you and others will be lucky enough to return home soon.

Being in Australia and already suffering the effects of the bushfire season i know exactly what it is like. I have been evacuated many, many times and wish the whole nightmare that it is on no one.

Our prayers go out to all those affected by this and we wish for a safe and happy return for all. Keep safe Dystopic, hope everything works out well for you.

The draft is moving along nicely, if FB makes his pick soon we will be on our way.

thanks guys  it means a lot to me, more to my friends and their families i'm sure. my plans for altruism fell a little short. i dropped off stuff earlier today, but they wouldn't let me into one the evacuation zone up north. they're starting to get things under control and asked people to try and stay off the roads. so i'm just staying in and feeling pensive. i live in the city proper, and the fires are more on the outlying towns and undeveloped brushland. i didn't have to evacuate; i've been trying to help others who had to. i'm very thankful it's gone as well as it has; CA has a moderately strong infrastructure for this sort of thing. it amazes me how people pull together; it really cuts right through my usual cynicism.

anyway...

all the remaining players are to be re-shuffled at the end of the draft anyway, right? if so, chances are few of us will be with more than 1 or 2 team mates we previously had.

Actually I think we need an arbitrary ruling from neilo.

Not on the selection of PlayJeff but on whether or not ShadowWorrior or KzintiPatriarch is defacto captain of Team D. I actually have no opinion or concern one way or the other, the only thing was that I did mention to the admin at the Core that KzintiPatriarch would be interim Team D captain and that he should receive the new team D forum password. As of yet no action has been taken so we could go either way, but I was basing this on the earlier posts by neilo.

Anyway one of these two is captain and the other is in the available pool and the easiest way to go is a ruling from the commmissioner.

I'm good either way. On one hand I did put some thought and time into considering potential draft picks, so on that account I'd like to be captain. On the other hand ShadoWorrior was officially the captin to begin with, and wasnt MIA for all that long anyway. Either way the commisioner decides I'll be fine with.

Geez guys i really don't mind how it works out. As for the team forum at the core that can go either way as all members will have the password eventually.

As for the draft, consider yourself co-captains if you like, both of you could decide the next pick if you like...

Just so that we can move things along when it comes around to your pick again, make sure you both agree on who that pick will be and whoever is active first can post.

Sure this is fine. It does pull two players out of the potential draft pool and keep two players commited to staying in team D but I see no real big deal with it.

In any case the new passwords for the forums at the Core should be all set to go along with the new forum for team E. Damoose already did it this morning. He did set it up per my request which was with KzintiPatriarch as Team D forum moderator and presumably the new password was PM'ed to KzintiPatriarch.

Anyway, all captains should check their PM's at the Core for the new passwords. Make sure they work and let me know if there is any issue. Certainly most people are probably becoming more familiar with the Core. Generally anyone can make these kinds of requests directly to any admin there.

And now back to the draft. Currently on the clock is FireBender for Team C.

I hope that it wont slow things down at all, as the draft seems sort of slow already. I'll be communicating with ShadowWorrior about who I was thinking of for the next few picks.

Ok, I have a suggestion for this draft(mentioned below)

Btw, Neilo, the OP is a bit messed up or I'm missing something here. The team indicators are jumbled(i.e. Marshall is with me in Team C?).

I think this is going too slowly. Lets just agree on one timing. The captains are expected to come on that time and make their pick instead of waiting all this while for each to individually show up.

it'll also slightly distrupt the lottery/shuffle at the end of the draft. anyone left after the second draft picks will be randomly assigned a team, but if team D already has two captains it'll receive one fewer random team mate. i'm not at all concerned about this or the draft issue mentioned above. however since KP suggested picking one captain, it mightn't be a bad idea for the sake of consistency and simplicity.

well IIRC Silver already PM'ed neilo with his next choice and alternates. so neilo should announce that, and Dethadder should be preparing to announce his next choice.

i don't think it's a bad idea, but i think it'd be bad to change the draft rules in the middle of the draft. i'm eager to start the next round, but keep in mind, it's not just a new round, but a new season- it might take a little more elbow greese to get it going than usual.

Edit: Also, Mumble, as of yet I have not received a PM on the Core with the Forum password, though admittedly I wasn't sure when those are being sent out

Just checking in.

I'm all set for round 4 and ready to launch my fleets at a moments notice.
