I am running Vista x64 and did a clean install of it and WB6 works a treat. By chance me hardy, did you upgrade from XP x64?
nope, clean install. brand new system i just built. the WB6 program is called WindowBlinds600_enhanced...not sure if it matters.

If you got that message then the installer thinks you are on 64 bit XP not 64 bit Vista.

Is there anything unusual about your setup?

2 days ago I installed WB 6 on a Windows Vista x64 Ultimate. No problem with WB, but installing Vista x64 Ultimate was a pain.

it's definitely not warez. i bought WB 5 in mid feb. and the upgrade to 6 is free. the link that stardock emailed me allows me to download this file:

WindowBlinds600_enhanced

K1234 - Download Stardock Central and update WB6 from there after logging in with the email used to purchase WindowBlinds. Be sure to check "Show pre-release versions" to get the latest beta.

thanks, that worked. it looks like there aren't many WB vista ready skins available. am i correct?
All windowblinds skins will work in Vista some better than others. The "vista ready" lable is quite recent and more skins will have this designation in time.

Glad to hear everything worked out for you K1234. I'm also glad you didn't take offence of my question about if it was a legit copy of WB

Enjoy version 6!

I have checked the standalone installers again on x64 Vista for shareware and the enhanced builds. The only way this error should be happening is if somehow the compatibility flag is tripped to tell the installer it's running on XP SP2. Vista can automatically offer to set this if it thinks the install didn't complete for some reason, which would then carry over to subsequent attempts.

Can right-click on the file and open Properties for it and check the Compatibility tab.

I use the Executive skin, which is "Vista Ready", and it doesn't work correctly any more in Vista x64 SP1. System windows are not skinned (f.e the Windows Firewall windows) and not readable. System icons in the notification tray are really ugly (with artefacts). The program icons (like Outlook) are fine.

I have the feeling that Stardock has a general problem with Vista SP1 (cfr. the DesktopX problems in Vista SP1).

seppchen: I do not believe your issues are anything to do with SP1.

I would download the skin again and reinstall it as it sounds like it may have become corrupted.

The system windows arent skinned on any theme, I reported it in the 6.1 thread.. no one paid any attention as of yet...
It isn't a SP1 issue, it's a general bug with WB on x64. For me its readable, just everything is skinned to classic.
