CTD in loading saved 1.80a game

Well, I got the 1.80a upgrade and there are more planets as desired (thank you!) However, there is a CTD in any attempt to load a saved game. I have four save files, and each one crashes at the same time ... just at the end of the loading sequence when you hear the soft "bump" sound. I tried rebooting windows, no difference. I tried starting a new game (no problem) and going from *there* to the "Load/Save" menu ... same thing. I then tried to load a save game from beta 4 - it crashed almost immediately in the load process. Then I successfully loaded a save game from an earlier beta. (Trying to load the 1.80a from that point brought the CTD).

So you want I should send one of the 1.80a save-game files to ya?

I've also experience a CTD saved game. I lost about 2 hours of game play when the game CTD then I tried to reload both autosaves which both crashed. I had to go back to my quick save which I save earlier today .

Yep, apparently any loading causes a CTD for me. Using Vista, latest version of the game. Everything ran fine until I CTD at a combat screen, then both my autosaves and two of my manual saves all are insta-CTD. Its nice to know I only lost like 4 hours of my life. I'll take comfort in the fact that I was going to win beyond a shadow of a doubt, but still =/

That is strange. Have you tried to turn off the computer, wait a few minutes then restart it?

Yes, I tried a reboot. It made no difference. I save periodically every game I am playing, so I had four different 'save files' for the same 1.80a game. All CTD when attempting to load it.

Please send the zipped saves and the resulting SmartException reports to gc2bugs@stardock.com with a description of the problem, and any common steps you did prior to making the saves.

I recently suffered the exact same problem. The CTD occurred when I was buying Troop Transports from Lord Kona in order to retake some planets that had been stolen by the Fundamentalists. Now 3 saved games have been destroyed - they crash while loading. It was 1.8, the original pre-A version. Now I shall upgrade to 1.8b and see if I can get my game back.
