EQ and Multi

EQ and Multi

I don't have EQ or EQ2 to test with here. Can any players that use Multiplicity let me know if they are still having issues with the latest version of Multiplicity?

In my case I am using Vista Ultimate 64 as main and Windows XP SP2 as secondary, but before I upgraded I had the problem with Windows XP MCE 2005 w/SP2 as main and Windows XP SP2 (different PC) as the secondary. The file is thankfully only 270meg, or there abouts. I will have some time tomorrow to test out the trial version to make sure it also has the problem.

On a side note who would be willing to let me have access to their account after I fire up my trial? I would like to try swapping the login accounts when I test it. It might be a long shot but knowing Sony it isn't far fetched. Most of my bug finds are all about the long shots anyway. You can be certain of my professionalism in this regard. I wouldn't even play the same server as your characters. I shed my EQ past when planes of power came out a lifetime ago. :)

I would be fine with letting you use two of mine if needed. Please let me know the best way we can get in contact to trade the information.

It will be by PM or through my work email. However this test can't take place until the Impulse and TPM2008 launch is finished. I hope to contact you shortly.

Would be nice if there could be some resolution to this problem. I have a sneaky feeling that its something simple for a good programmer to figure out because I can reproduce the program repeatedly by clicking the right mouse button on the secondary system and then panning back to EQ on the primary system. As was previously posted the secondary system still works fine, mouse and keyboard off the primary system so something is locking the input devices from the EQ window. Please keep this thread alive. Multiplicity is a great tool for alot of occasions. Please add multiboxing EQ to that toolbox by continueing to dig into this issue.

Just started using MP. I mostly hardware box EQ, but controlling  two melee's via a KVM is not ideal, so when I saw MP for $13.99, I gave it a shot. Currently I am moving all my computers around and it's all in peices, but I got 2 boxes back up post haste just to check out MP. Main box is running Vista ultimate x64 and is set as primary, second box is XP home x86 and is set as a slave, also I set my secondary computer as being on top ( will be running 10 computers once everything is up and going again) and took me a few minutes to figure out how to do it (advance settings I think it was).

I was hoping it would work in full window mode, but doubted it would and..well..it doesn't. But most things of this nature don't. Can use WinEQ2 to run in windowedmode and simulate the look of a full windowed EQ. Haven't bothered trying that yet and not sure I will.  Anyway, once I switched both boxes to windowed mode, I was able to move to the different accounts, although going back to my main account made the mouse dissappear and then I'd have to go through moving the mouse offscreen to get it to work again. A few other problems as well, but I thought....probably UAC is the problem (although it is a case of Stardock not programming their shit to work with UAC that is the problem and not UAC itself). So I ran MP with admin rights, which gave me a pop up window saying that might cause problems. Things did work much better with admin rights, but still had problems with the mouse when I moved between screens. So I went ahead and turned off UAC completely and now as far as I can tell in the short time I have had MP, everything is working great. Luckily, for me....none of the computers I use for EQ does anything but play EQ. I have completely different computers for surfing the web, downloading, emails..etc. So turning off UAC is not a big issue. However, if I used my EQ boxes for all other things as well, I would keep UAC on for the most part.

Got 10 computers running MP. had problems with all secondary computers scroll wheel not working in EQ, but figured out how to make it work. Had problems connecting all but the very first secondary computer, but figured that out. Have a problem with CONTROL of EQ being lost on the primary computer.  All other computers continue to run EQ fine with MP and EQ runs fine on the primary computer....I just can't control it. Everything else outside of EQ works fine with MP...just no control of EQ. Have to ctrl, alt.dlt EQ and restart it, but shrotly after, it loses control again. This only happens on the primary computer. Tried running EQ in window mode on primary and it seemed to be better. I even thought that was the work around, but when I logged off my other accounts and shut off  the secondary computers, once again, I lost control of EQ on primary.

My primary computer is a very recent and clean install of Vista 64 ultimate. All that's on it is EQ and MP really. 6 of my secondary computers are Vista 64 bussiness....all clean and recent install of OS with just ...EQ on it. 2 of my secondary computers are Vista 32 home...junk on it. And one of my secondary is XP Pro with a ton of junk on it.  I turned off all anti-virus and UAC when I installed and left it off while I checked to see how MP plays with EQ . The  secondary computers run EQ fine with MP...it's just the primary that loses control. This is a show stopper for me. What is the solution?

Ok, looked around trying to find a solution and see that this problem has been around for a long time (at least since 2006) and still is since I found nothing that offered up a solution. The only way I can see going around the problem is to have a computer you don't use for boxing EQ set as the primary computer. Luckily, I run 10 comps, 9 accounts and the 10th comp is just for surfing the interweb. Not an ideal work around since I am going to have to rebuild my download computer into my 10th computer (was using download computer as an EQ box as well), but outside of this very major flaw, I like MP. Hopefully I just didn't search well enough and there is an actual solution.

How did you get the scroll wheels working on the secondary computers, semaddar? I too am having the same problem. Switched my main computer over to a internet box and am playing EQ on the secondary boxes. The odd thing is the scroll wheel works on 1 of the boxes (xp Pro) but not Vista 64 or Home XP.

The scroll wheel works on the box with the mouse USB IR attachment installed. I had to put a mouse USB IR stick on each computer so that the mouse on my primary can scroll via multiplicity within EQ.
