XP^4 Users: don't bother trying to use anything here.....

It won't work, even with versions that supposedly support it

After searching around forever and trying just about everything I've come across, WindowBlinds will just not work on my XP64 system. I've tried every suggestion I could think of and that I could find and not a single one has worked yet. Everytime I try to load it, I get sent into the reboot circle. I try to reinstall several times, I get the reboot circle. I disable everything and reboot, I get the reboot circle. So in short, NOTHING HAPPENS.

It has been posted around also that Stardock has no intention of supporting XP64 systems anymore and that people should upgrade or downgrade their OS. This is a crock of bullshit IMO.

So I'm taking it upon myself to post this thread to end all threads asking about XP64 support. Don't waste your time dling and installing cause it just won't work.

I'm gonna start looking for alternatives and I'll post some up here if I find any.

On a side note, I VERY disappointed in this company. Contrary to popular belief, XP64 is used more than you think. It's completely stupid that Stardock refuses to support those who do not like the Vista OS and choose XP64 to support their dual cores. Hell, we get better support from Microsoft themselves, and that in and of itself is sad.

You've never posted here before, at least under this name.

How about posting the System Information from WBConfig?

How about telling us what version you have that is "supposed to work"?

You can buy into rumors all you want, but lots of folks seem to be happily using WB on XP64, so to trash it & advise anyone with XP64 to skip WB on the basis of your mere unsubstantiated opinion is a bit rich, don't you think?

People here will be happy to try to help sort your issues out, but only if they know about them.

I'm sure it has been 'posted around' too that the world is flat and the moon's made of green cheese, however none of that is necessarily correct, either.

What is more likely is you had an install issue, or simply an incorrect WB version.

As Daiwa suggests...post your WBConfig system info here and you'll surely receive assistance....

Who better to support the operating system than it's creators?! Of course you get better support from Microsoft, XP is their product - kind of a weird statement to make.

Although I feel for you that you are experiencing limitations using the 64bit version of XP, this can't be the first time you've run into problems with software not working on that platform.

I think Brad stated that .21% of the user base was XP64.  I imagine it's hard for a company to justify spending money that won't make money.

Stardock (or any company) is not requiered to do work that won't help the business.  You made a choice in getting an OS that was niche.  WB 5.5 should work for you.  Use it forever.  It was good enough when you bought it to do what you wanted . . use it to do what you need until you upgrade to Vista.
