Compatibility Concerns

Vista+Stardock=???

For some odd reason I've been unable to properly download any GalCiv2 updates. The icon and taskbar denote my game as "GalCiv 1.2" and when I try to update it, lo and behold, Stardock finds updates.

However, Stardock seems to download one small part of the package and then stop, permanently reading "loading file list." If I cancel and try again, it repeats but with a different filename being downloaded.

Also, my game seems to have some odd issues-- maybe they're fixed in the update I can't download, or maybe I'm just a noob.

The screen seems to flash intermittently in menus, and I find that I cannot choose any race other than the Terrans. Further, I have problems selecting who's in the galaxy with me: I need to select them in a certain order or it won't work, and I am unable to change the fact that there are four races in the galaxy.

Finally, nowhere-- not in the interface, nor in the instruction manual-- am I able to find how to build Starbase Modules.

Thank you for your patience in dealing with yet another noob.

Contact support@stardock.com. They should be able to help you get the download issue sorted.

Not sure what your flashing issue could be without more information. If you post the contents of the debug.err file in the game's directory we can see some details that may help with figuring that out.

As to your game setup issue, you've got a scenario selected. Set that option back to normal when starting up a new game and you'll have your choices back.

To upgrade starbases, just send additional constructors to the starbase once it's been founded. Each constructor you send will convert into one new module.
