Bootskin in Vista

Can I restore it?

I installed Bootskin in Vista recently and It doesnt work... (yes I know it is not compatible!)

The thing is, when I installed it, it made my bootskin nonexistint and even when I uninstalled it, the boot screen is still black. (the loading bar is still there tho)

I really want some sort of login screen! (and btw, the os still loads)

Do I need to make a registry tweak or something?

Thanks for any responses...

Bootscreens and logon screens are different.

YOu can use LogonStudio for your logon needs.  You'll have to wait for Bootskin Vista to become available.

As to recovering from installing a low level application on an OS that you knew it was not compatable with . . . you can try system restore.

Actually the bootskin images you're describing (black screen with simple progress bar) is the default windows vista bootscreen so that would mean vista is operating correctly again. I wouldn't attempt any vista registry tweaking to get a bootskin to work on vista - I'm not aware of a reg tweaks that allow for this anyways.

Bootskin for Vista is apparently still in development and I haven't heard anything about it's progress in a while. Until it is released you will have to make due with Vista's simple bootscreen (black screen with progress bar).

You can use the LogonVista application to change your vista logon screen (screen where you click on your user account and fill in your login password). As Zubaz said, logons & bootskins are 2 different items.

Hopefully this info helps.
