remote machine monitor

can't save settings on remote computer perf meters

I've aways gotten the damn 'unable to connect to machine' popup when clicking perf meter data source, but for local settings it doesn't seem to matter. but when I input a remote computers host name and pick a meter from it's list, it will show me details letting me know it did connect, like drive letters etc, but when I pick a meter and close/apply it simply will not accept the remote settings, it just default to a local view of whatever meter I was setting up.
this has been driving me insane for a long time, I've searched all over looking for someone else with this issue to no avail, so if anyone can help I'd be very very grateful.

Your answers seem to be in the developers guide under Pluggins API's.I'm not sure I understood it all.But I think your trying to set-up the plug-in.Try this make the meter object save it then configure it.But still I'm not sure if it meant configure it apply>ok then configure it again?
Sorry don't have the manual's address handy.(It's installed on my pc).I also don't have a network to test it on.
