This might be a stupid question but...

My cousin (who is a PC technician) installed a bunch of things on my PC; so that I could use it; He also installed Windowblinds. I was fond of Windowblinds, having to have used the trial version; and was glad that I got this one; however some probs. occur.

The skin does NOT load; everything changes to the Win 98 Skin model

is it becuz I have a pirated version? I would have thought so; but at the same time; I was having problems I've never had with my display adapters on programs I bought myself; so I really aren't sure!

Here is what my System Information says:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 92 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT

Wblind.dll 2007/02/21 15:06:20
Wbsrv.dll 2007/02/07 17:31:19
Wbconfig.exe 2007/02/21 15:06:33
Wbload.exe 2006/09/30 13:59:14
Wbhelp.dll 2004/09/18 15:37:07
Wbui.dll 2005/12/06 21:29:06
Tray.dll 2006/04/28 18:27:49

PLEASE report all this information when submitting a problem report, especially anything related to per-pixel skinning. Per-pixel skinning requires video card driver support.

Yes.

I would suggest you completely uninstall the program, run a virus scan, and then go here and purchase the full version.

Good idea. Be sure to uninstall the "other" version and as has been mentioned, run a virus checker.

it never ceases to amaze me that people with pirated versions have the balls to come in here and complain that their windowblinds is not working. As far as i am concerned if the cracked version ruins there system then so be it, might teach them a lesson for the future

Calm down, folks.  Remember, not everyone using a 'pirated' version is actually pirating it on purpose.  Its entirely possible that the individuals arent aware of how WB's trial and/or anti-piracy protection works, or just dont understand that licenses cant be transferred.  In this case, it might be wise to back off a bit instead of straight-up insinuating that the individual posting is a pirate.

We have better manners, methinks.

jebusrocks... Excellent choice to purchase the product!  Its definitely worth the 20 bucks!  You have to be careful, though, because its likely you'll end up wanting more Stardock apps... you might want to consider just going with the Object Desktop setup right off the bat.

Nicely put JD.

Actually, I'd suggest purchasing ObjectDestkop... best value for money.

My thoughts exactly. "Ignorance is bliss" doesn't fly when they knew what they were doing all along.

I've got $20 we won't see "customer" by his name anytime soon...

What blows me away is how many people honestly don't see anything wrong with it, seriously. And I'm not just talking about "them darned kids".

Daveri, I'm sure most of the peoples needs their money, and finding a way not to spend it can confuse alot of peoples.

Kaazz-

No really, I've known people who just really didn't have a clue that there might be something wrong with it. When I've explained they've stared at me like a deer in the headlights. Some have even turned a little white when the light clicked on. It's bizarre. I'm not even talking about the mentality of "it's kind of like driving 5 miles an hour over the speed limit".

I think there is an assumption that when one buys a PC it comes with whatever licensing is appropriate.  Most good people that I've helped after buying or getting "used" PCs are surprised that they don't own the apps on that PC.

Even if the user has a pirated copy, no help you try to give will hurt the situation.  And then again . . it might thelp and bring in a new productive member.

Jebus . .  I'd check the other apps on that PC while you are at it AND have a talk with your cousin.

Some idiot (fixed my computer) a couple years ago. His solution was to give me his windowsxp, I didn't know until I was notified when I went to windows updates. He even installed the professional version, Dumb ass (parden me) didn't ask if I had the disk and had a legal version, which I did. I had to call Microsoft and tell them the story, they looked up my serial number from my disk and then gave me the proffessional version key because it was on my machine. Can you say upgrade...! Why pirate, I guess no one in this group would ever copy a dvd either, or take the wrong change from a cashier, or download music from the web or limewire, some people here are throwing rocks but some live in glass houses. Please don't judge, you never know, Karma is something that will catch up to people and they complain about how crappy their life is, well maybe it's from cheating so many people that they are just getting payback for it all. I do try very hard to pay for everything I get nowdays due to my past life of indiscretions and a past that really sucked. I learned and now my life has been much improved in the past few years. I give alot to people and I have found now that many give to me for no reason. I swear, if you live life with good intentions you will receive rewards. I am not a Bible pusher, I don't go to church or anything like that. I just believe if you give without wanting in return you get stuff anyway. Good luck all.

I'd hope that no one here would do those things because they are all wrong.  I think good Karma can be gained more from doing the right thing than by not judging (as noted in your post).  In fact, I'd suggest that judging and acting on that judgment is better karma than not judging at all.

The trick, as always, is to judge well.

well said. People that make "mistakes" should be taught a lesson and not instantly forgiven.
