WB6 suddenly acting funky.

Recently did a complete system restore on my laptop and got Object Desktop back up and running. After reinstalling all my apps and then removing a couple, I ran a reg cleaner to make sure I had no extra tidbits laying around slowing me down. I dont know if that was the problem, but it seems that since then, my WindowBlinds have been messed up. I have noticed no other operational problems. To try to fix the problem, I restored the backed up registry. Didnt work.

I have the "Riga Dark Aqua" set, and as you can see, some of the skin is working, except for the title bar and the taskbar.

Here's the info from WB:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6 (6.0 (beta build 25 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

(Plug and Play Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150

Wbui.dll 2007/08/27 11:54:06

Just wanted to see if you guys could help. I'll switch back to WB5 for now. Hoping I didnt screw up something more important with that reg cleaner.

Thanks,

As a general rule you should never run reg cleaners.

It looks to me like WB is not running at all.  Your firefox window is being themed by a firefox theme not WB.

Have you tried applying classic from wbconfig & then applying a WB theme?

A registy cleaner app may delete registy keys that it thinks are not used but are in fact used.

I ran a reg cleaner

Not all reg cleaners are equal....and all are really only as good as the end-user.

Generally, if you look at the sheer size of a complete registry the paltry bit that a cleaner actually removes is so insignificant it'd do 4/5ths of bugger-all in speeding up a system anyway....

I have found that running a reg cleanaer after you delete programs does clean up loose ends.

What Jafo says though is correct, if you use one know what you are doing.

Before deleting anything look and make sure its not deleting something other than program links for stuff you have taken off the computer.

Just about every reg cleaner that I have looked at has an option to backup your registry, used that function. If your computer starts action strange after a clean you always can go back to the last registry profile.
