How do I ask questions about Stardock Central?

I was reading some forum posts, in particular about ObjectDock Plus, to see if the problems with the weather docklet was solved yet, and saw that there was a recent update to OD+. Stardock Central, it seems to me, gives me conflicting information.

When I choose Misc, which is where OD+ information is, I see that my installed version is 1.90[b].019, and, with "show pre-release varsions" selected, the available version is ----------. If I then deselect "show pre-release versions" I have the same information regarding my installed version (as I would expect), but now the available version is 1.90.026.

My initial reaction is to regard this information as back-to-front, but I'm prepared to be persuaded otherwise. The last time I tried to upgrade OD+ there were so many problems that I had to drop it, sharpish, so I don't particularly want to reopen that can of worms.

Whatever the issue is, I am experiencing the same situation.

With Show pre-release versions checked, the installed version is 1.90h[b].019 and the available version is -----.

With Show pre-release versions unchecked, the installed version is 1.90h[b].019 and the available version is 1.90.026. There is no letter in the new version number. Nor is there a [b] or [beta] reference in the new version number shown.

i believe that should mean you have installed the latest beta

released versions shouldn't be showing beta reverence in the version number

example
i currently have object bar [beta] 2.10f[b].011 installed with 2.10f[b].012 dated 8/23/2007 showing as available with 'show pre-release' checked

with it unchecked I show 2.00.009 dated 9/21/2006 as available

if you have "----------" showing as available, it means you have installed the latest beta or released version, depending on which you have installed and whether pre-release is checked.

I see that my installed version is 1.90[b].019, and, with "show pre-release varsions" selected, the available version is ----------.

according to SDC you have the latest beta installed, no newer version available yet

If I then deselect "show pre-release versions" I have the same information regarding my installed version (as I would expect), but now the available version is 1.90.026.

according to SDC that the latest released version (non beta) available to you

you can also check the dates to see which is newest

with "----------" showing as available, the date shows the date of the version you have installed. if a version shows then the date is the date of the version available

I don't have plus, but I'm guessing 1.90.026 has a newer date than the beta

show pre-released checked = only show me beta version

show pre-released unchecked = only show me released (non beta) version

Bichur,

I understood what you said, but that is a bit counter-intuitive - with regards to the betas and version numbers.

We've all used beta software and despite whatever identifying system they used (version numbers, letters, dates, etc) the general rule has been "higher is better". So looking at beta 1.90h(b).019 compared to released 1.90.026, I think you can understand the confusion. The higher file number would normally be the most recent version.

I believe we both thought it was equivalent to "show pre-released checked = show me most recent beta or released version".

I think was just maybe an error when numbering the beta, 1.90h(b).019 is current beta released after 1.90.026, so it, 1.90h(b).019, is the top version beta or released right now.

I think it's a typo in the release version # since the Date for it is in April, while the beta date is in August.
