Program starts then gives an error

Hi,
I've just purchased and installed Tweakvista, no dramas with the install, but when I run the program it opens then gives a message saying the program has stopped working.
The info it gives is:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: CLR20r3
Problem Signature 01: tweakvista.exe
Problem Signature 02: 1.0.0.0
Problem Signature 03: 46cb5317
Problem Signature 04: TweakVista
Problem Signature 05: 1.0.0.0
Problem Signature 06: 46cb5317
Problem Signature 07: 516
Problem Signature 08: 78
Problem Signature 09: System.NullReferenceException
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 308

Windows asks to look for a solution and if I select this option it looks for a bit then just closes the program with no solution, or message that there was no solution. My hard drive is partitioned and I've tried it on both partitions, uninstalling after each try and it fails, I've also tried the all users and me only options with no luck. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

To narrow down the potential area of the problem, could you tell me if the version number is displayed below "Welcome to TweakVista", if the news is displayed or still "Loading...", and if there is any mention of system startup delays at the bottom of the Recommendations list? Also, did you notice this occurring with the trial version (if you tried it)?

Running version 1.0.0. Latest news and tweaks loads. No mention of startup delays in recommendation list. If I leave it it will sit at the welcome screen for about 30 seconds before giving the error, or if I try to run one of the options, such as assessment, it will go to that screen then give the error straight away. I didn't use the trial firstly, though I did download and install it after I had removed the purchased version and it does the same thing. I haven't downloaded stardock central, could that be anything? I didn't want to install it if I didn't need to, the less things on my pc the better. Thanks for your help, hopefully this can be sorted out soon.

Ok I have just downloaded and installed stardock central. I'm trying to register tweakvista, using my email address and the serial number in the email I reveived using the lookup serial number option. The product is object desktop subscription, but it keeps saying the serial number is invalid when I click update. I copied and pasted the serial number and have made sure it's correct. Maybe I need to delete all stardock software, clean my registry and start over?

So wait . . . did you buy TweakVista separately, or Object Desktop?

If you bought Object Desktop, then in theory you should not need to register, as long as the email for the "Stardock.net account" (which is what you use to login with on Stardock Central) matches the email you used to purchase the suite.

If you bought TweakVista, then you need to select that from the Products dropdown - the serial you got will not be correct for Object Desktop. Though, again, if the emails match it shouldn't be necessary to do that, you just download it from "Purchased software" in the Object Desktop section.

All of this assumes that you are logged in correctly. If it says "Login failed" at the bottom right of Stardock Central, you need to fix that first (possibly you have not yet clicked the activation link sent to your email address).

I only purchased tweak vista. The e-mail confirming my purchased had a link to get stardock central, which I did. When I click on the registration button at the bottom right, tweak vista is not listed anywhere, but is under the heading for object desktop when I look at the list of progs. I have now uninstalled everything from stardock and cleaned the registry using registry mechanic. I have now just reinstalled tweak vista (the purchased version), installed to my D drive and allowed it to run for all users. It installed fine but still does the same thing when it's run up.

Any ideas, or might I be able to receive a refund for the purchase seeing as I am unable to use the software?

Please refer to Stardock's Return Policy

Thanks, I'll give it up to the 60 days to see if my issue can't be worked out, the software looks like it does a good job so I'd rather get it working and keep it. Only looking at a refund as a last resort if I can't get it working. I don't want to but I may look at doing a reinstall of Vista to see if that helps.

Hi there,

I am experiencing the same problem. Downloaded and installed TweakVista 1.0.0 via Stardock Central. Once I start up TweakVista, it goes on to load the list of news, and immediately after that Vista prompts to say TweakVista has stopped working. I'm long time Stardock subscriber, and have faith you folks will solve the problem. Looking forward.

Was e-mailed Friday with a link for a debug version, unfortunately the link didn't work. Waiting on a response for the next step.

Got the debug version to install, get the windows error at step 11. Bugger, hope I'm not looking at a reinstall of Vista, I just got the pc setup, it's only a month old.

These problems have now been solved for a lot of people - if you are experiencing problems, contact suppport@stardock.com for a test build. We will be releasing a new build with these fixes and a few user interface tweaks, probably in the coming week.
