Application Exclusion Doesn't Work

I am having issues with WB affecting some of my programs negatively, and tried to exclude them from being skinned using the application excluded setting. After applying the settings, it didn't work, meaning WB was stilling trying to skin the program. I tried rebooting also, and that didn't help. I completely understand that WB can't work perfectly with every proggie out there, and if I can get this to work then it won't be an issue.

Your machine does not support per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

This is because :

Your computer graphics hardware does not support acceleration of per pixel alpha. WindowBlinds requires this for per pixel alphablended borders as without it performance would be poor. Please see if you can obtain new drivers for your graphics hardware. Recent ATI & NVIDIA boards should support this feature. Onboard graphics tend not to.

1) which programs?

2) you should a few more files in the WB info

Outlook 2007, Project 2007, Skype, even IE7. I have all listed under the exclusion setting (total), and WB still tries to skin them. I cannot use WB because of the negative effect it has on these programs, if I can get them to be excluded then at least I'll be able to use WB for some stuff.

Other proggies such as Windows Explorer skin perfectly, no problems at all. Some, like Media Player don't skin at all (which is fine), and some like IE7 skin only partially, meaning part of the window changes, part doesn't and I have white text on white background. Some, like Outlook, skin partially but then it screws up the menus as mentioned in another thread in this forum. Those are problems I'd like to resolve, but at the moment I don't care about that...if I can exclude those proggies then I can deal with it later.

"you should a few more files in the WB info"
I should what? include? I copied the info as displayed...

Cheers

MikOnline ...you should see a whole bunch more .dll & .exe files listed under the 'View my system information' section of the WB config window ....here's a list of mine, but mine will be a little different, as I'm not on 64...

It won't show all of it if it has all that explanation for why per-pixel doesn't work. And since the window is non-resizable and no scrollbar....there's no way to get the rest of the info (pretty sure that's why anyway).

Ah ....

Thanks Bebi ...wasn't aware it did that.

Guess they need to add that [a scrollbar] at some point...

also i am pretty sure the X800 series should support per pixel as well, maybe updating to the very latest ATi drivers will help

If an application is excluded and you still have problems then the issue is either the system wide colour scheme or system fonts.

It sounds like the skin you are using has set the system fonts incorrectly which is why outlook is upset.

Exclusion cannot exclude an app from the system fonts or colour scheme as these are global.

I agree that it looks like the system colors are messed up, but this happens with every dark (white text on dark background) skin I try. So it's obviously not a skin issue, it has to be either my system, WB, or the combo of both. In any case, what's the point in having an exclusion setting if it doesn't work fully?

For those wondering about the video message, I am running an ATI X800 through a Matrox Triple Head 2 Go powering 3 monitors, that's probably why it's giving that message. My drivers are all updated, and I have no issues with any of my video components with any other programs.

Thanks for everyone's input.

System colour schemes are global and so applications cannot be excluded from it.

Some applications assume things about colours and hardcode text to black.  If this is the case a dark colour scheme will not work well with that application.  You will need to contact the developer of those apps to ask them to either totally ignore the colour scheme, or use it fully.

You can get the remaining items in the System Information section to display by placing your cursor on the last item and then using the down "arrow" on the keyboard to move through the list.
