Activation woes

I purchased IP a week ago.
Tried activating , got the message about firewalls.
Then tried activating by email.
Followed all the instructions for doing that.
Still no response from stardock.

Tried activating automatically with all my firewalls down. Nothing.
Sent them another email activation a few days ago with no response.
Well aware that they're off on the weekends.
Even tried activating through stardock central. To no avail as this
keeps giving me BS with my proxy settings. I've already checked those
about three or four times already. Everything seems fine there.
I'm also copy/paste my serial number on the activation screen.
So I don't see that as a problem and I sure as hell know my email address.

So what's up with this ?
Am I doing it right comes to mind but I just get no response from them
on this issue. I even went as far as sending them a ticket.
Still no one has contacted me.
So I'm a little piffed on this.

I did have a similar problem when I activated Window Blinds.
After contacting them it worked automatically. With no explanation in sight.

I know this may be something on my end but I can't figure it out.
Aside stardock taking their time to help me. Which isn't the way I'm used to doing
business.

So I come to you in search of answers.

Just out of the blue, Are you by chance using AdSubtract or Proxmitron?

Nvm You probably seen about both of them before you submitted a ticket.

I know the folks at Stardock have been very busy with WindowBlinds 6 and SkinStudio 6 betas rolling out recently. I myself am at a loss as to why you are having activation problems. I know you have waited and your patience might be wearing thin. I hope that someone can come along and help, but your best chance will be on monday.

In response.

No I'm not using either of those.
Every thing's basically xp bought in '05.
Outside of my recent craze with desktop/icon themes.
The only other programs would be webroot and norton that I've installed.
Use firefox for browsing as IE never worked. Not that it has anything
to do with this. ( I don't think ).

Just the same. Thanks for the reply.

norton used to either work fine or give me fits

sometimes it blocks stuff but doesn't tell you - even though the proxy settings are correct in sdc, have you checked norton's fw setting to make sure sdc is allowed?

Bichur,

I've just got done looking through all the firewall settings in norton
and cannot find anything pertaining to stardock.
Usually it asks me if I want to allow such n such.
In this case it hasn't even budged.
And if it's an input that I need to make in
norton. I assume it would be, what , stardock .com ?
Besides Icon packager is already on the allowed list.
All I can say is that this shit is frustrating at times.

Thanks for the direction tho' Bichur.

I know I might be doing something wrong that I'm not seeing.
But for the life of me I cannot see what it is.

what about sdcentral.exe?

can you open stardock central and use it? other that activation IP.
Yes.
I can open it but am unable to access certain things due to the proxy server.
IE is unable to connect to anything for reasons unknown to me.
I've done everything I can think of outside of setting it to my default
browser. So I've typed in my address three or four times already
but to no avail.
Lemme tell ya, this sucks.

try setting the proxy to localhost 8080

Did you get an auto response to your support mails?  If not then please check that your spam filter settings are not blocking them.

Proxy has always been set as mentioned.
Maybe it's the actual address I'm having problems with ? I dunno.
Is it the numbers I'm supposed to be putting in or the website from my
provider ? Because I've tried both.
I've already received email from stardock for the Window Blinds issue.
Like I've said all of a sudden in took automatically after I went
through the email route as well as sending the ticket.
So that doesn't seem to be the case.
But I think I might be fooling myself in believing that.
There has to be a reason why it worked then.

It's Monday and I've still no reply from stardock 'tho.

All in all thanks for the replies. At least it helps to knock off
the basics from the list of what it might be.
Still wish they would reply already. It's been over a week.
Maybe I should send them another ticket or flood them with activation emails ?

Bichur,
# 19 / # 9, Niel Banfield ?
Anyhoo , checking into my email settings from my IS provider.
You might have something here as I've found several strange
things from Stardock in some spam folder but unable to really
make any sense of what I read.
Digging. But THANKS.

Received email, tried going through object desktop with same results.
Keep getting error 1001.
All of my firewalls on norton have been shut off . As well as me
turning off spysweeper and I don't use windows firewall settings at all.
I'm really quite pissed at this point.
But watch it turn out to be something simple so the bags on me.
Unless it's from an outside source but I think that would have been
recognized by one of my programs.
I don't know anymore.
The messages I'm getting and me shutting everything off
one would think the problem resolved by now.

ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG !!!

Update NET Framework.

Am i reading correctly that you cannot connect online with IE if so that should've set the alarm bells ringing so having grief with SDC etc should come as no suprise ,i also had that very issue around 3 years ago with IE not able to connect, to this day i have no idea why it happened(am 100% proof positive had nothing to do with norton) suffice to say the only way i was able to correct it was by reformat, unless you can get someone to look at your comp then there's no way for you to update the OS,you have nothing to loose, this time however forget auto update and use windows update and get them all manually before installing any other apps, as there'll be updates you won't need just make sure you have the OS firewall or norton running before connecting to the net,you can install a antivirus but at this point won't be needed until the OS is fully updated

ps: can't say it will fix the SDC issue or activation but it will be a start

pps: assuming you decide to go that way install the most used apps first leaving least used till last, make sure you clean system & defrag as you go even when updating the OS so hdd does'nt get too badly fragged

xscorpx,

Thanks.
You have got to be the first person to mention anything
in regards to IE not working.
I've just got done going through norton and manually
applying stardock and icon packager for allowed programs
as well as applying the same for the firewall list.
Tried launching the activation from my desktop as
well as object desktop. Both with the same results.
I've mentioned this IE issue to stardock before but they
never made any suggestions about it.
So as it seems to me right now. I bought a program I cannot
use. The trial version worked. But I'm prevented from using
the program I purchased because of something blocking
the activation.
I understand what you're saying about the automatic updates
and will be changing that accordingly.

Again Thanks.
But after about two weeks of trying to resolve this. I'm pretty
much tired of waisting hours for something I paid for that doesn't work
Because of some silly BS.
