WindowBlinds 6 Beta Feedback

WindowBlinds 6 Beta Feedback

Please post all feedback about the WindowBlinds 6 beta on this thread.

Note that the beta is for 32 bit XP and Vista systems only.  Please do not post about it not working on 64 bit XP/Vista.  Please continue to use WB 5.51 on those platforms.

This beta is for Object Desktop customers ONLY.  Standalone WindowBlinds 5 owners will not be able to activate this build.

Please note that you must have Stardock Central 2.46 Build 154 or later to install the WindowBlinds 6 betas. If you try and use older versions, it'll eventually timeout and give you an error about an invalid URL.

If you have problems with it running at all, please uninstall WB6, reboot and then try reinstalling WB6 again.

@Duff: If the titlebar height is any higher than 23 on a theme in x64 it will distort tray icons. Only way to change it is to load up SKS and change the titlebar height for the BMP top frame to 23.

thanks for the info, but this is happening with windowblinds stock skins. its up to them to fix it, not me. i shouldnt hafta personally tinker with thier skins in skinstudio. and i hardly believe this is a 64 bit issue. i recall having thsi issue on my laptop aslo, which is 32 bit.

It happens with every theme, it has something to do with WB. Can't say I've had the problem in 32 bit....
I've tried many themes on x86/x64 and never had the issue on x86, always on x64 though.

This is making me crazy. Windows Explorer keeps crashing since the last beta update. Here is the message I am receiving:

"Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module ole32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2726, fault address 0x00078e25".

Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

I still need some help here. Someone suggested Add Remove to uninstall WB5 but it isn't there. The only thing there is SD central. I would really like to get my WB's updated but am at a complete standstill without further input from someone more knowledgeable than me! Anyone?

try odnt zapper. It completely uninstalls all Object Desktop components if I remember correctly. Do a search to find it on the web site here.

I have the zapper, but didn't want to go to such drastic extremes unless absolutely necessary!

Can anyone explain why WB Config freezes up after applying a wallapper? It takes almost a minute before I can do anything after applying a wallpaper this way.
The freeze with the wallpaper should be resolved in the release version of WB6.

I am using the released version of WB6 (6.00.004) on a Win2k3 server and I have noticed that somehow my Mozilla Firefox browser does not get skinned (using firefox: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9a9pre) Gecko/2007100205 Minefield/3.0a9pre)

But firefox it is not listed in the excluded applications.

Only the outside frame of FF is skinned by WB.
You can get FF themes here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:2

Win2k3 may also be causing issues . . not sure about that.

A small correction to my previous post. Firefox sometime get skinned. I left my computer alone for 20 minutes and now when I open a new Firefox, it get skinned correctly.

Maybe some delayed reaction somewhere. I am running a bunch of thing on my machine and one of them could be interfering but the beta up to the just before the directory move was working fine for me.

Has anyone got any idea or know what i can do to stop explorer and all the programs like wordpad and oe that come with windows crash. They all have one t hing in comman. When WB6 is running and the mouse hovers over the menu bar theys they all close immeadiately - at least explorer restarts itself but the others have to be re-opened. I did mention this when it was in the beta stages but i've had no response. I run legal copies of windows and object Desktop and every thing else for that matter so I would be greatful of some help here. Im getting fed up of not being able to have anything to do with windows and microsoft skinned by WB6. Damn I still cant get a carriage return using the Stardock Control interface here! Please someone help to fix me kind regards Gill

silverspider: What other applications are running on your PC?

Do you have anything that would alter menus in anyway?

yes but only styler - i've been down the route of uninstalling styler just in case it was that was causing the problem but it makes no differance what so ever.

Tell you what i havent tried doing, im using Right Click beta 1.24c[b].005. I havent uninstalled that yet. Let me try that and i'll come straight back.

Thanks

Hi Neil,

Uninstalling righclick didnt make any differance either.

Ok for everything else that is running here goes:

Enhanced File Dialog 1.00.002,
Icon X 1.11.008
Window FX 3.1

Non Stardock

TaskSwitchPro 2.0
AVG Free Edition
MSI's PC Alert 4
Tablet.exe for my wacom
Desktop Sidebar V1.05 Build 116
Vistart Build 2502

other stuff is windows standard stuff

hope this helps, thanks Neil
Hi Neil,

Ok i've disabled them one by one and its still not made any differance. The only time it stops happening is if I disable wb6 arrrghghg!
oh meant to say the only ms application that it doesnt seem to affect for me is notepad. Wordpad, OE and explorer all keel over and disappear from the void.

And this happens with all skins?

yes - every single one of them except for the 2 'microsoft skins' at the begining of the choice of skins to load - i've been through all including the stardock skins.

jeese I could probably understand this if i used an illegal copy of wb - but im not
