can´t get the startbutton to work

hello erverybody
i downloaded skinstudio free and tried to make my own skin... everthinks works fin till i wanted to change the startbutton. its allways shows some standart-button and not my piece. tried to open some existing skin and hit "apply the skin" and get the same result. is this normal or did i something wrong.
please help me
