Camera/Planet Placement

Fully 3D already...?

I noticed that in the main screen the camera is fully 3D (i.e. if you rotate it a couple times it gets pretty naseauting to know your orientation). How come this isn't applied to the Sins gameplay?

And as a result of this observation, are there any plans to make the random planet generator utilize the Z-axis?

Porbably because human beings have conceptual difficulties operating in 3 dimensions, and the UI to operate in the third dimension would also be pretty difficult ATM since we lack 3D displays / interface devices.
