unfortunate solution to the skinning problem

Hi

I posting this for all the people who r having problems with windows blinds not skinning, going to classic theme both normally and upon reboot.i had tried every solution and got the program to work...kind of half ass(on startup it would go blurry to apply the skin again)but it wasnt good enough for me.So i did a factory restore and started from scratch, and guess what, not only did the program work perfectly (ie no turning off anti virus and spyware tools to make it work)but my system runs so much faster now.Another suggestion i might add is not to use any tweak programs that disable system services, watch what cleaning programs u use ,dont use any registry compacting programs and not only will windowsblinds work for u but ur pc will run much better as a whole.

Its unfortuate that it has to come to redoing ur whole pc but its a necessary one.Its has worked on the 2 pc's i have windows blinds installed on.

So good luck and I hope this has helped some of u. PS pack a lunch reformatting is a pain in the ass and takes an long time...lol

After 60 days Windowblinds will no longer skin and will revert to the default theme. Uninstalling and reinstalling will not reset the 60 days, and it starts from when the program was first installed, so if you use it, don't use it for a while, then use it again, it will still be counting all those days. If you are trying to use this as a means to circumvent the trial period...that is not advised. It is best to just purchase the program.

If you are having these problems with the purchased version, should email support@stardock.com to get it resolved.

Thanks for the advice but i bought the program and had nothing but problems as i said. What Im trying to tell others on here is that it may not be a problem with conflicts from anti virus and anti spyware but a problem in the registry and a clean install of windows and then reactivating windows blinds seems to solve the problem. The support tech help a little bit but as i said, the program still had problems on startup.Reinstalling XP and then reactivating solved all my problems.

unfortunately I believe that may be my problem, have tried several
"tweaking" programs for Vista and pretty much all sucked as well as
leaving Vista a bit messed up. I was using WB trial then bought SDC
and upgraded to the full WB only to find it's not working at all.
Going to try a clean in stall of it once SDC is able to connect
to SD again

But this just reafirms what I was already thinking I would have to do.

It is absolutely a MUST, that you uninstall the trial version of WindowBlinds and reboot before installing the purchased version, either as a standalone app or preferably via Stardock Central.

in an other hand come here and ask about your problems in tell us your systems informations or contact SD support at support@stardock.com with all your informations
your systems informations looks like this:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.51 (build 97 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

Your machine does not support per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

This is because :

Your computer graphics hardware does not support acceleration of per pixel alpha. WindowBlinds requires this for per pixel alphablended borders as without it performance would be poor. Please see if you can obtain new drivers for your graphics hardware. Recent ATI & NVIDIA boards should support this feature. Onboard graphics tend not to.
