Possible bug? 2 instances of the dock.

I am unsure why but Objectdock occasionally loads 2 instances of itself (Objectdock) during startup. Even though there is only a single shortcut in the Startup folder inside the Windows Start Menu directory. This only occasionally happens and I have not been able to confirm the reason why it does this. It definitely is not a problem if the 'Load at Startup' button is unchecked (well obviously since it shouldn't load).

Has anyone else have this problem and know of a fix?

There are two ways to start an app automatically.  The start menu and teh registry.

Click Start | Run
Type msconfig and OK
Go to the last tab "Startup"
Is Objectdock there?

Click on Start | All Programs | Startup
Is Objectdock there?

Remove it from one or the other.
Should be fine

Yeah but the only problem is when you remove either one the whole thing doesn't appear but if when you use the load @ startup option, it puts both (a link in Startup folder & registry) in...

I have the same double or nothing docks issue with OD 1.9. I installed the standalone package from the registration e-mail link. It was working well untill I checked auto startup option box. I find 2 entries in msconfig for odplus startup, one as user and one as common. unchecking either will cause none to load. Uninstalled and re-installed package from sd central with same bad results.

I am having the same problem. I have OD 1.9 installed and it is either two instances running or none at startup.

I was able to work-around the problem of two instances of ObjectDock starting when automatic startup is selected, although I would not advise everyone to try this if you are not comfortable with backing up, working with, or restoring your system registry.

By doing a small amount of registry tweaking using the Startup Monitor app from an old version of System Mechanic, I was able to eliminate the two instances of ObjectDock from automatically starting. By unchecking the “startup when Windows starts” box in the ObjectDock options, then using the System Mechanic app (It can be done using regedit if you know how – I don’t - or there are other apps that will do the same thing) to enter the ObjectDock.exe path on my computer into one of the following Run keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (for all users, this is the Run key that I used) or
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (for a specific user)

Now there is only one instance of ObjectDock that starts automatically.

After insuring that the "load at Startup" was turned off in OD+ 1.9 I tried to simply copy the program group shortcut from the stardock group to the startup group as zubaz suggests. This resulted in the same double running of OD+. I also found the same 2 entries in the startup with MSConfig. Also had the same result of disabling one or the other disabling both.

Searching through the registry I could not find either entry as listed in MSConfig. I disabled startup in OD+ again, and manually added the run key as cman1721 did. I now have one instance of OD+ running at startup.

That's beside the point. There's no freaking way joe average user can be expected to edit his registry to make software work. If you are considering buying this software - save your money.
