I think the research tree should 'grey-out' fully researched techs. When I look for new techs to research, I have to mouse over each one to ensure that I have researched them fully already or if there is more research required. It would be much easier to do this if the fully researched techs were grayed-out, as with future techs that lack resources or prerequisites.

Thanks for the ideas.   This one is already present (not sure if it's in the public beta 2) in that fully researched techs get gray brackets placed around them (and greyed out) as an indicator.

Finally, M**3 SP2!!!!

No, really, it's great so far, it's getting to be a real time sink, 6 to 8 hrs for a game (in one sitting). One thing, can you make the background nebula anything but GREEN???? It's really, really hard to make out your (and allies) icons & stuff when everything is green. The best I've had so far is the plain starfield background, mostly black with just stars. Or make the background user selectable in the options.

Thanks,
pek

if you load the game and get a background color you don't like, just exit the game and try again, I wish there was a color selecter.

You can turn off the nebulas in the options.

OK, found the option, I'll see what it does. Does the camera shake off stop the sloooow crawl across the screen? I thought it was my mouse, my drivers, my eyes or my mind. Changed the first 2 and the last one but it didn't help, stuck with my eyes. Trying to concentrate with that slow crawl can be madening.

Not sure if its been mentioned, but if there is more than 1 construction ship at a planet, and say you are only building a phase inhibitor, it would be nice if the constructions ships worked together to get it built faster.

they cant work togerther cuz if there is only 1 job left the con ship that pulls the short straw has to do it while the crew on the other con ships play a game of cards.

Yeah, the TEC workers have a powerful union. Even in 'times of war', the TEC doesn't even think about messing with them.

Does the camera shake off stop

Zoom in on a capital ship when it explodes (with shake enabled) and you'll see what camera shake means

Camera shake is Ironclad's way of promoting in game seizures.

Kosc is Ironclad's way of promoting out of game drug use.

OK, I see what the camera shake is. But. It's not the effect I was talking about. At any zoom level, the systems seems to crawl across the screen in little jerks. I figured out the slow crawl after you slected a fleet and then single left click on a system, the camera is still locked to the movement of the ship/fleet. When there's a few squads in teh selected fleet the movement the the planet/system can get really swoopy.

On a real bug, I've found that if a planet had culture tranmitters and had any colored lines radiating from it and you come in and sterilize the system completely, when you colonize it it immediately turns into the old race again. This happens even if you have conquered all system up to 2 jumps away. If the colored lines are still there after you clean that system out, you can't colonize it at all. You have to _completely_ wipe out the race to be able to colonize the planet with your race. This can be frustrating when there's a relic there you want to use there and the race has a colony hidden away in a corner of the galaxy and you can't get to them quickly.

pkaski, could you rephrase that first part, im not comprehending...

as to your second point, that has been fixed and will be in the next patch (releasing this/next week)

Um, no. It takes forver and a day for the culture lines to die out but they do die out. It helps -- a lot -- if you both push the culture back with your own culture centers, and wipe out "nearby" enemy culture centers, but even if for some reason you can it does, eventually, degrade.

In my last / current / way too bogged down game (culture again) I ended up wiping out an entire "string" (chain, maybe, since it wasn't just 2 exits to each system?) of enemy planets, and just sat my fleet on the node leading to them. Eventually -- and it took a while -- the culture lines died out and I could colonize. Even though the enemy was still beaming his culture in.

OK, I'll try. As I see things, if you double click on a fleet, the camera will try to follow the single ship that was selected (i.e., in a fleet of 5 ships, if you have fleet on "1", the first time you double tap "1" you will select the senior ship in the fleet, each time you hit "1" after that it will cycle the camera view through each ship). Now, if you zoom in close to follow the action, the view isn't confusing. but, if you zoom out, the motion doesn't scale down, the entire galaxy will move around in little jerks.

FYI, thats not *quite* how it works. When you first create a fleet with ctrl-number, it places the ships in a pre-determined order in a "list" of ships. However, if you use shift-number to add ships to the fleet, they are tagged onto the end, rather being placed in the order. You can "correct" this, if wanted, by then selecting the group and pressing ctrl-number again.
I usually do a "ctrl#" each time I add ships, never can remember "shift#", so my fleets are always in "order". Makes it easier to check cap ships and update them if I need to>

True, but if you set a rally point to a fleet I believe it functions under the "shift" rule
Reply #473 Top
Haven't tried the rally point thing, yet. But, if the fleet is in another system you're hosed, at least in this beta.

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to designate a ship/fleet as the rally point.

You can already do this. Just set the rally point to a ship in a fleet, and new ships will automatically join that fleet.
