Common Deshtop Environment and Two Object Bars

OK, I'm pretty new to all of this so bear with me if this is basic.

1) I'm looking for a theme which resembles the Common Desktop Environment for Unix:

WWW Link

I did a search for it on Wincustomize but really didn't find anything too much like it.

2) Failing that I decided to create an object which liiks much like the Dock/Bar at the bottom using DesktopX. I actually don't mind doing this and it could be what a guy like me considers to be fun. However I'm looking for a quick and dirty way to duplicate the functionality until I get around to it. So I've created two ObjectBars. I've arranged these in parallel at the bottom of the screen. Now I'd like to group them together into one object which can be raised, lowered and moved. However, I can't find a way to do it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom S.

You can group items together as a whole unit in DesktopX, but I am not sure about ObjectBar.

Hold tight. Someone may come along that will be able to assist you better, but don't get discouraged if you don't get an immeadiate response.

I don't know if there is an eay way to take two seperate bars and combine them.

Can you post a screenshot of what you have?

What I would do, is create a horizontal bar and set it to Dock to edge.  Once you do that you'll have a new element show up called Extra Space.  move that to the ceter of what would be your two bars and there you go.  If youa re not docking, you can insert an image (a shortcut to nowhere with an image) in the middle of your "bars" to keep them apart.

Does that help?

There are two tutorials available here that might help.

One other thing.  For your image you want a bmp that is "magic pink" so it's transparent.

Sure thing. Here's the functionality I'm trying to imitate (quick and dirty):
