Khaled, go to user accounts, select unable or disable user account control (UAC), and uncheck The use of UAC, then accept, and reboot, now it would work i guess.

Cheers.

I think this is an XP install so UAC does not apply.

Khaled, while you wait for someone who can be more helpful than I, have your tried uninstalling and reinstalling WB.

How long have you had the trial version installed? After 60 days it will no longer skin windows, uninstalling and reinstalling will not reset the limit. You can either uninstall it and go back to Windows default, or buy the program (which is well worth it).

I have been using the full bought version for over a year now, but just recently it's stopped applying skins. I had just rebooted the PC only to see the default XP interface, so I loaded the WB config window, selected and applied a skin, but nothing changed. It does the usual out-of-focus, depth-of-field kinda thing just before you usually see the skin loading, but it either crashes the config prog, or reverts back to XP default. Most annoying, as it seems to have happened for no reason whatsoever.

Uninstall it, clean reg with CCleaner (google it), reboot and reinstall, tell if it works.

Thanks Alex, that worked... although I didn't have to CC it, I just un/reinstalled from archive. I should probably have tried that anyway, must be Sunday laziness.

KHALED_2016

what did the splash screen say last time it was working?

as Bebi pointed out:

If you had an earlier version of the trial, installing a newer version won't work either.

The trial worked and the purchased version has even more features.

You own the product after you purchase it and you get updates until the next version release. Purchasing the current 5.5 version now will get you the Version 6 update when released.

I've been running WB versions since 2003

As Hanker's said:

You get updates for a year. Renewing a subscription to a product gets you updates for another year, etc.

If you don't renew, you still get to keep and use the one your purchased (or updated to)

If you purchase, I highly recommend downloading Stardock Central (aka SDC) and using that for the download and install. Once you register in SDC, the link to download will be available. SDC will also check for updates to the program and you can use SDC to make an archive (backup) of the program to put on a disk in case you have to reformat
