Adding Special Resources

Hi,

Is there any way (via a cheat or modding) to add special resources to planets? I want to create some custom planets for custom races.

Also, I want to create a homeworld stuffed with bonus tiles for a laugh and see how far I get with just the one colony.

As far as I'm aware, bonus tiles are only generated at galaxy creation time and can't be controlled in any way.

It would be fun to see something like this though:

In your starting system you have 5 Class 26 planets. Each with 12 Precursor Mines and 11 Precursor Libraries (or vice versa depending on your playing style) and 2 Approval Bonuses.

Each planet has EVERY tile on the planet available for upgrade (for realism purposes I came up with Soil Enhancement for full land tiles like Prairies, Habitat Improvement for Partial land tiles like Swamps, and Terraforming for full liquid tiles like Oceans). This would make each planet in your starting system a Class 72. This makes 360 usable tiles in your starting system in total, with 55-60 Precursor Mines, 55-60 Precursor Libraries, 10 Approval Bonuses and 235 tiles without a bonus.

Building Factories on the Precursor Mines and Labs on the Precursor Libraries and Morale buildings on the Approval tiles gives you an immensely huge production and tech advantage over the AI (possibly even Suicidal).

Putting a Starport on each of the planets, along with 1 farm and Orbital Control Center. Spreading out your Capitals on all 5 planets (Manufacturing on one, Tech on another, Economic on the one with the most Markets, Political on another planet and the Omega Research Facility on the 5th) gives you a well balanced system, freeing up the rest of the planets for Trade Goods, Galactic Achievements and Super Projects and then filling the rest out with Markets.

This system alone would probably guarentee you victory as long as you defended it well. With the labs pumping you way up the tech tree like 100 Albert Einsteins working in tandem and the factories pumping out huge hulled ships like they were pencils would leave the entire galaxy at your mercy, and this is all in ONE star system!! This is why bonuses are randomly generated, but as an experiment it would be fun to watch how overpowered you can make your race. I'll let the people who know how to calculate production work out what the production would be like number-wise and how quickly it could handle high-level techs or ships requiring large amounts of MP.

The only other ways that this can be made even more powerful are if you could place one of each of the galactic resources around your star system (and, in DA, asteroid fields (but since I only have DL I don't know how they work)) so that production in all areas could be amplified even further. Even more so, if you further modded your race to take every possibly ability and create an unstoppable race of super-beings (plus the fact that PQ bonus ability would further increase your PQ on all the 5 planets to more than a Class 26, yet never higher than a Class 72, making it more useful at getting Starports even earlier without building over bonuses).

It would be immensely fun to see it happen in an exclusive AAR and then give the option to let other players the chance to experiment with the situation to see if they could handle it.

that would be FUN AS HECK!!! but what would be really cool is if they make a economical planetary bonus
