My Calender Icon Has No Date on it!

Hi all, newbie here. Can anyone please help? I just installed OD 1.9 and have noticed my Calender Icon is blank!! If I hover my mouse over it, the date is correctly displayed below but not displayed on the icon itself.

Previous version of Object Dock Calender worked fine.

I would really appreciate some input.

Many thanks.;o)

the one that came with ODock or a downloaded one?

what happens if you drag it off and add it again?

If you get continued troubles after that last suggestion try doing an uninstall and reinstall. To be on the safe side be sure to delete the directory it was installed to.

Hi Bichur, the Calender I refer to is the Default Calender installed with Object Dock 1.9. I have tried Uninstalling & Reinstalling Twice with NO effect.

With regard to dragging the Calender off the dock and then re-adding, I'm reluctant to try this as there seems to be no way to re-add it again. I looked in the 'Add Docklets' Folder in the Settings and the entry for Calender is missing.

Similarly, there is no entry to re-add the Weather Docklet.

If it helps any, I've looked at my Event Errors Log and Object Dock is throwing up hundreds of 'System Event Errors'. (See list Below)

UPDATE TO MY LAST!!

Hi again, been trying to work out the problem with the Calender all afternoon and here is what I have discovered. The Calender Docklet [.dll] file is CORRUPT!!!

I overwrote the [.dll] file with a previous version and hey presto.., my Calender now works!! I can even see it listed in the Settings Menu, 'Add New Docklet', although, I still can't see the Weather Dock in this list.

This got me thinking, perhaps the downloaded installer was corrupt, so I uninstalled OD 1.9 and downloaded a fresh copy from Stardock.

However, when I installed the new copy, the same problem appeared again.., Calender had no digits on it!!!

It would appear that the product installer currently available from Stardock is CORRUPT.

I have overcome this problem for now by overwritting the Calender [.dll] file yet again and this does seem to have cured the Event Errors problem, although, I'm still experiencing System Event Errors for the Weather Docklet.

I guess I will have to wait until Stardock have resolved these issues in a future update.

Cheers for now. ;o]

did you clear out the ObjectDock cache prior to reinstalling?

Sorry Bichur, I totally forgot to mention that previously. Yes I did clear the ObjectDock Cache prior to reinstalling. Also I deleted the original ObjectDock folder from the Programs Files Folder after uninstalling.., all to no effect!

With regards to the System Event Errors I mentioned, although as I stated this now only occurs for the Weather Docklet, I have discovered that this is only happening when I connect to the internet. ie, when the Weather Docklet first Updates the Weather.

Likewise, when I first boot the machine, the Weather Docklet trys to update itself, but if I'm not currently connected to the internet the same Event Errors occur.

I'm guessing that as I managed to solve the Event Errors for the Calender by over-writting the [.dll] file, perhaps if I over-write the Weather [.dll] file this may also solve the Event Errors for the Weather Docklet.

I'm not sure if that will definately work though, as the new Weather Docklet [.dll] file is different from previous versions.

Perhaps you could email me a copy of your Weather Docklet [.dll] file to see if that works. At least that way I could prove if the original was indeed corrupt?
I'll keep playing and see what happens.

Cheers anyway.., it's good of you to offer your input.

Slinx ;o)

Hi MK_Slinky

I had exactly the same problem after going back to an older config of my machine - no date on the icon and no way to re-add the docklet to the dock.

I was able to resolve that problem by installing microsoft .net framework 2.0. Works fine ever since.

Hope this helps!

Hello Wamm63, greetings also from even rainier UK!!

Thanks for your reply, I've checked which version of microsoft .net framework I currently have installed and it is Version 1.1

I had a quick look on Microsofts Website, but I'm not sure exactly what to download. There seems to be quite a few .net framework downloads including Version 3.0.

Question, does this component not update to the latest version along with the other automatic updates? Also, if I do install Version 2.0, will this have any impact on my other programs?

I'd appreciate any help you can give me mate.

Cheers.

Hi, me again, I just had another look on Windows Updates Home and found what I needed in the Custom Updates.

I now have Microsoft.NET Framework Version 2.0 installed and it worked exactly as you mentioned. 10 Gold Stars to Wamm63 for your suggestion. Thanks mate!

I looked in the Add Docklet Menu and I can indeed now Add the Calender, should the need arise.

Just one thing though, I checked in the 'Add/Remove Programs' in the Control Panel and I now have the following entries:
Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.1
Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.1 (Hotfix)
Microsoft.NET Framework Version 2.0

Should I delete the first 2 (1.1 & 1.1 Hotfix)?

Thanks again.

2 can run along side 1.1 (if I remember correctly)

gotta admit, the framework thing hadn't dawned on me.

Cheers matey peeps! All seems to be working ok.., I've not had any System Event Errors since I logged on yesterday at 11:30 am, so hopefully (touch wood) that's the end of it.

It's good of all of you who gave advice and assisted in solving my problems.

Bravo to one and all!!!

Glad I could help.

Afaik programms running with .net 1.1 won't run on 2.0. So you best leave both versions on your pc.

Nice artwork btw.
