GalCiv - Is full screen the only option?

Sorry to put this on the GalCiv II forum but this looks like it might be the only place I can really apply the question.

I recently picked up GalCiv Ultimate edition and have started playing. I know the game is locked in on one resolution option and that's fine by me. I was wondering, however, if it's possible to make that a windowed option at that resolution.

I have a dual monitor setup and I'd like to try to have the game running on one screen with my other applications on the other screen.

Has anyone tried this? Is it possible to do?

The only way I can drag the game over to the other monitor is to make it a window and move it over but I don't see any option for that.

Thanks.

To set up a shortcut to run GC1 in windowed mode, just open the shortcut's properties and add a w to the end of the target path (separated from the actual path by a space). Make sure the shortcut is pointing at the game itself and not the launcher, or it won't work.

What do you mean? There are plenty of resolutions to choose from, I'm sure you mean something else I'm not thinking right now?

He is playing GalCiv 1, not 2.

I did try editing a shortcut and a window just opens and closes very quickly....

No dice there.

Sounds like you added it to the launcher and not the game itself.

Well, I'm assuming by 'game' it means 'galciv.exe'. There's actually two of them, one in the GalCiv directory and one in the AltarianProphecy directory.

When I installed the game and ran it the first time, I wasn't sure which one I was running. It appears it defaults to the AltarianProphecy.

Whoever, the galciv.exe is the game from what I can tell.

The shortcut target is:

"C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCivUltimate\AltarianProphecy" so I added the 'w' to that. i.e.:

"C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCivUltimate\AltarianProphecy" w

It should be something to the effect of

"C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCivUltimate\AltarianProphecy\GalCiv.exe" w

(Can't say for sure as I don't presently have it installed).

Right!! I should have cut & paste. That's what I have. Oh well, would have been nice but no biggie.
