Dwm.exe - Description and Recommendation
Vista's Desktop Window manager. It is used for visual effects such as Aero Glass and Flip 3D. It also frees up the CPU by sending graphics commands to the GPU instead.
Dwm.exe - Uninstall Techniques
To turn off DWM, go to the TweakVista Services section and click on the Features tab. Aero (DWM) is listed here. Uncheck the box to turn off DWM. The opposite technique can be used to turn back on DWM if it shuts down for some reason.
