How do I use custom race pictures and movies?

Hey, I was using a custom race picture and race flag when I played GalCiv2. When I upgraded to Dark Avatar, the custom pictures were no longer present when starting a new game. I checked the directory hierarchy and noticed they are somewhat different. I tried making a Portraits folder and putting my custom race picture in there but it still didn't appear as an option in the game.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help! I appreciate it!
