ObjectDock Plus 1.9

problems with Firefox crashing

I think the new version of ObjectDock Plus is causing some of my other programs to crash. A particular problem is with Firefox. I've got a new computer running Media Center with 3 gigs of memory and 2 500GB hard drives so THAT's not the problem. Any ideas? Or should I just archive the program and go back to 1.5?

Firefox keeps crashing which it almost never does when I'm not running ObjectDock.

have you tried disabling docklets (in trouble shooting) to see if FF is better?

disabling docklets and not loading OD are not the same thing

OD configuraton > general tab > troubleshooting options = temporarily disable all docklets

tigerlady: i find it highly highly unlikly that ObjectDock is actually crashing firefox. I recommend trying the various options in ObjectDock's new "troubleshooting options" dialog to see if any of the options help your situation.

I disabled all docks and haven't had any problems , knock wood, so far. Now my question is...what does that mean?Am I OK to go as is or is there something else I need to do?

You could try enabling one dock at-a-time and see if a particular one causes the crash of FF.

as Hankers said.
- if disabling the docklets makes all work fine, then the problem will generally have to do with one of the docklets. You can either enable one at a time or remove all the docklets, then put them back one at a time - in between each one, give your system a run through to see if there's any borking going on. Once the offending docklet is found, remove it and post here which one it was - someone may be able to offer an alternative docklet.

I only have one dock and I'm not running any docklets. Now I'm more confused than ever

FWIW, I have had OD+ and Firefox working happily together through all updates of each ever since about Firefox V1.0.

but checking temporarily disable all docklets worked?
you weren't running a clock, weather checker, mail checker, calendar, etc?

currently using ODock free 1.9 with no FFox issues

I've been looking for a cause (someone to blame) for my system hang-ups. WinXP starts, I load a couple of apps, OD 1.9 is running and all of a sudden things come to a screeching halt - the clock on google deskbar stops working and I can't even bring up taskmgr. Have to push the power button. Saw this post and disabled 5 items - docklets, system tray (2), system hooks (2). Will keep you posted on the results. Problems seem to start around the time I upgraded from 1.5plus to 1.9plus. No firefox problems that I can identify.

Do you have SP2 installed?

Try getting rid of the Google deskbar.
