Need Serious Help PLEASE!

I am trying to upgrade my object dock plus to the new 1.9 version but every time I download it I get a "objectdockplus_190.exe is not a Win32 application" error message. This same thing happened when I bought OD1.5Plus and Stardock finally sent me a link where a workable download was. This time they've sent two and it's the same crap with both. I live in Central America and only have dial up. So it takes about 2 hours to download the 12MB file and I've done it 5 times in the last 24 hours and am losing my mind as well as getting pretty pissed. I've never gotten anything from this company that went smoothly. I usually have to log on 4 or 5 times before their site recogonizes my account, and getting help is like pulling teeth. Is there any way to get this thing working without waiting for a workable download from Stardock?

If you're not using Stardock Central, give it a try. Install it, let it update itself, then use it to download and install 1.9

I already installed Stardock Central and all it does is take me to the web site. That's all it seems to do to me anyway.

load up stardock central, then click the misc option, in the window to the right yopu should see your current version of object dock, click this and if there is an update available an updatre button will appear, click that and it should update

misc = object dock plus (paid)
free stuff = object dock free

Check out this tutorial if you haven't already done so on how to register your products. Then go to Tools > Settings > General and under Auto Update make sure 'prompt me when updated installed applications are found' is checked. I think ObjectDock is under the Free Stuff menu on the left, and it should show 1.9 as available, click on it and select Update.

Edit: ok bichur says it's under Misc, I only have the free version.

I open stardock central and when I click that I already have an acct., and my email, password and name are already there I click next and a box comes up telling me that "the nickname you entered is already in use, choose another". But THERE'S NO PLACE FOR A FRIGGIN 'NICKNAME'!! The only way to even open the program is to click the "enter my stardock net acct. information later" which leaves me with nothing. Even when I register with the number stardock sent me, objectdock doesn't even show up! WHAT NICKNAME!! And then everytime I use the 'enter info later' way into the program it does a 4MB download that it says you only need to do the first time, but I have to do it EVERYTIME! ARGGGGH!!! And it still doesn't seem to even know that I have Objectdock Plus even though I've registered it 5 or 6 times already, done the one time only 4MB download the same number of times and no mention of updates or even the fact that I have a registered program. What the hell am I supposed to do? THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ANY NICKNAME! I enter the correct information and 9 times out of 10 I get "Login failed". I like the program but at this point I'd like to shove it somewhere and get my twenty bucks back! This is a total ripoff, or incompetence of a level I've never seen. Any suggestions?

Enter your email address that you used to purchase OD+. But I guess if you've already done that I'm not sure what the problem is, I never had that problem.

Considering all the people using it daily with no problems I'd have to agree.

Any suggestions?

Contact support@stardock.com with your purchase information.

Peter Jaxon: One cause for concern is that your ObjectDock Plus registration is not under the account associated with the nickname you're using to post here. I assume you're attempting to use this same Stardock.net account to login through Stardock Central. FYI: The Stardock.net account is essentially your Stardock passport and consists of three components: email address, nickname and password. Anywhere you need to login to Stardock's servers, you would use either your email address/password or your nickname/password. The only exception to this (for security purposes) is the support system at https://www.stardock.helpserve.com, which is not hosted locally.

Could you email support@stardock.com with any other email addresses you might have used in the past, or if you have them, your serial number, order number and/or phone number? The more information you provide, the better the chance we have of locating this AWOL ObjectDock Plus registration.

Mike, Your suggestion has gotten me pretty close to resolving my problem, but there is still one sticking point. I checked and found an old old account from when I first downloaded Logon Studio, and there is my purchased Object Dock, under the old account, not from the email address I'm using now but an old one. It lists the new Object Dock update, as well as the fact that it's a purchased program. But when I click 'Install' a message comes up saying that "Object Dock requires Windows 2000 or newer" and won't install, even though I've gotten Stardock Central working. Now all I need to know is how to get it to understand that I'm running XP so it shouldn't be a problem. You see, I bought OD from my present jaxonpeter@gmail.com, but the account where I found the purchase info is under jaxonpeter@hotmail.com. No matter what I try it keeps saying I need 2000 or newer. How do I convince it that I do? Because it lists the new edition and has an 'install' button next to it. But I keep getting the same message and can't work around it. What do I need to do? Thanks very much, this has been making me crazy and now at least I've found it, but how do I make it work?

try right clicking on it and "download and archive", then use SDC to restore the archive

Peter, assuming your statement "I've never gotten anything from this company that went smoothly" is correct, why would you abuse youself by continuing to purchase this company's products? Do yourself, and everyone else, a favor, and stop using the programs. I have to agree with Lantec's comment above. It's apparently easier to take pot shots at the programmers than it is to check and make sure you're doing everything right and are working with accurate information...just a word to the wise.

Kenny G., Do you send the same lame advice to the other 54 pages of posts of mostly people having troubles with Object Dock? I certainly don't think you're in any position to speak for "everybody else". I'm new at this recreational computer usage and yes, I get irritated when I spend hours trying to work something out only to have the software ask me to enter information when there is no place to enter it. Thankfully, between Bichur, and Mike from Stardock Support and the many others (excepting yourself and Lantec's useless comments), I've gotten a world of good advice and have finally solved my problem. This is a help forum unless you noticed, and thank god it's here. I've used the companys software for a while now and my first purchase came with some problems whose answers I couldn't find. Here I found them. What exactly is your point? Do you just like to hear yourself talk? If you don't have any help to offer why don't you find some other forum to give your opinions and "words to the wise". Like I mentioned before, there seems to be lots of folks that have problems with this software, and all us paying customers deserve answers. Thanks again to all you people that had suggestions to help solve my problem. It's a steep learning curve for us amateurs and your suggestions saved my sanity. Kenny, you should save your breath if all you have to say is what I should do as far as the software I choose to play with. No doubt writing software is a complicated business. For us amateurs working around the imperfections is equally complicated. Thankfully this forum is available when the software itself doesn't provide the answers. Although I was a bit strident in my comments I still got the information I needed. All of the answers I received were helpful, except of course Kenny, who had nothing to say but felt the need to say it anyway. Keep writing Kenny, there's 54 pages of people with problems that I'm sure would find your comment as useless as I did. And special thanks to Mike from Stardock Support for taking it on yourself to straighten out my double accounts.

good for you Peter for calling out this very annoying aspect when a 'member of the community' is having annoying + very frustrating tech issues w no resolution only to get feedback on said thread that 'mine is working fine' w a 'lol' period, no extension of insight, troubleshooting advice or sweet D all

You know what. I am a mature(lol) women who has only been using a computer for about 5 years. I am self taught and work hard at trying things new on the computer. I started with Wincustomize and Stardock back in 2005 and I love it. I NEVER have problems with the programs or the company. If I come on something I don't understand , I come here or the chat room (they are very helpful) for email Stardock support. You just have to be assertive and go to the right places for your information. This company and program is great and the people I have met on here are all very helpful. I spend many happy hours using this site and the programs. YOU GO GUYS.....

This is why people talk to you to hear their own voice. Even though I agree that some comments from community members can be unhelpful and annoying, Its ALSO unhelpful to SCREAM with CAPS!!! and fire off accusatory insults at the people who you need help from and in turn the community in general. Personally I don't see anything wrong with kenny's post given the context of your previous posts.

That's good news, Peter....

Remember the old saying...."what doesn't kill us makes us stronger".  [though I usually put it "what doesn't kill us gives us a limp"]...

Seems much of the problem was the old email/password [a common issue] and one or two less than helpful comments...
