Next Challenge for JU Writers Club

I’ve been thinking about the next Joe User Writers Club Challenge. I am going to appropriate an idea of KellyW’s to make this suggestion: how about rewriting a classic fairy tale. You could rewrite your favourite, maybe inserting yourself into the tale or rewriting to make it end differently or modernising the story to suit the sensibilities of today.

You could turn a tragedy into a comedy or vice versa. Maybe Ali Baba’s 40 Thieves could be changed to be politicians or maybe any number of Princess’ could be portrayed as bad tempered Divas instead. Who knows what your imagination might respond with. Hopefully this will spur some of you who have not written anything for JUWC before to have a go and be part of the fun. Good luck with it and remember the number one rule: have fun.

Jack and Jill went up the hill, they each had a dollar. Jack came down, Jill had two, they didn't go up for water.

My Jack & Jill goes: Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water, Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill laughed at the clumsy bastard

Little Miss Muffet
Sat on a tuffet
A lightbulb was stuck up her ass.
It woke up the spider
Who lived deep inside her.
He said "Hey, free electric and gas."

(I can't take credit for that one -it's one of Andrew Dice Clays...  )

Hmm...I might try this one, but I have to get through finals before I even think about attempting it.

Take your time, mate. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. Good luck with the finals too.

By way of an old Mad or Cracked or one of those type magazines:

Jack and Jill
Went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water
A lie perchance
For nine months hence
They had a baby daughter

dynamaso,

I didn't see this challenge until today. I'll take a stab at it. Meanwhile, if you could have a go at mine, I would be most appreciative. So far, Tova's the only one who met the challenge.
