Drawer opens by itself

I have ObjectDock configured to show a tabbed dock as a drawer at the bottom, with mouseover activation and a hotspot defined at the lower border.

Pretty often, when I move a window on the screen, or simply move the mouse to the upper region of the screen (without touching the upper screen border), the drawer comes up, then hides itself again, the mouse pointer not being even close to the hotspot.

This happens with OD 1.5 and 1.9, but not with 1.2.0.522. I am using WB 5.5 and CursorXP Plus 1.3.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you want to see the glitch happening, I placed a Flash video here for a couple of days. It is a bit noisy because of the compression - I had to record the full screen.

As you will see, all it takes is to move the mouse over the screen, and the OD drawer pops up.

At a sidenote, this happens on my portable as well. Desktop: NVidea card, two monitors 17" LCD with 3x4 aspect; Notebook: ATI onboard video, widescreen. The only thing both computers have in common is the operating system, which is XP Home SP2.

Rightclick the 'tab'
Click 'Tab settings'
Click on the option "Hotspots" and check the settings here.

It's more than likely that one or more of the hotspots are set to "Bring up this tabbed dock"
If so, simply set it to "Do nothing to this tabbed dock"

With only one hotspot defined at the lower border, or none at all, the behaviour is the same. In the video you may be able to see that is not required to move the mouse to the border of the screen, the dock opens when hovering over an icon, or over the desktop. And it is very annoying... It seems that I have to downgrade to version 1.20a again, which didn't show this symptom.

upeters: very very odd! Thanks for the video, yeah, that is certainly strange. Well lets take a shot at figuring out what's going on. Can you package up your ObjectDock settings files and mail them over to support? Make sure you reference it as a v1.9 bug to make it easier to find. You can get at your ObjectDock settings by going to the "Troubleshooting Options" area, and selecting the third button from the bottom that says "Open my ObjectDock settings folder so I can backup my settings".

Thank you!

Hi,

thank you very much for your reply. I sent my configuration, as you asked. The ticket is TRY-653952.

Cheers,

I've got this bugg too - I have two tabbed docks on the bottom edge of the screen, yet they pop up if I move the mouse to the top of the screen - despite there being no hotspots set for either of them !

For me this is v1.9 specific, as I didn't get this in v1.5....

Jeff I have never had any hotspots set. Before testing I checked each hotspot to make sure that do nothing to this tabbed dock was set for each hotspot. By changing position of single tabbed dock to bottom...right corner...set as drawer...a spot in the upper right corner of the screen opened the drawered tab.
Moving the same tab to the bottom left caused it it open only in the Top LEFT corner.

The area at both corners is 1 inch long across the top of the screen and only occurs when the tab is on the bottom right or left of the screen and the *hotspot occurring directly above it only.

I have 1 untabbed dock & 1 single tabbed dock set to a drawer...XP SP2

Just to clarify my own screen areas for this issue -

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

The Green area at the top opens the Green Tabbed drawer and the Pink area opens the Pink Tabbed Taskbar / Systray drawer. The actual height of the coloured areas at the top is only ONE pixel high, but it is difficult to show this on a demonstration image. There is also an area approximately 5 or 6 pixels long at each corner where nothing happens.

Again, to repeat, there are NO hotspots set of any of the three docks. (The right hand dock is static and not set as a drawer)

Greetinx...

I have the same problems.
Also with the start menu, that does what it like to.
I thaught it would be something with my screen-adjusting.
Nice to hear it is not so.

In addition my systemtray-tab did so,too.
After choosing several options it now stopped this behaviour. I do not know why. I think it has mainly to do with the Hotspots.

My systemtray-tab is placed on the right side of the screen and opened together with the left placed tab when I touched the left (!) screen. It dissapeared very quickly, but the left tab, too.

I now use only the Hotspot on the lower middle (taskbar-tab), before I used some more, that to the left and that to the right lower corner.

I can only avoid to open up both (upper+lower) with different times to open up, so that I can be fast enough to move the pointer back from the upper edge of the screen. Then, the lower won't appear.

I only have static tabs on the desktop-level, all other levels are drawers. Only the
taskbar-tab is also on the desktop as a "mouse over action". And so it appears also when I move the pointer to the upper screen.

I hope something is useful?!
