Points

At one point i had points for multiple civilizations, some that i never even played as, and now i still dont quite understand how to get points. I have tried all that i know about the game (which isnt much) so does anyone know how?

I think you start with points for the Abilities section and it improves your total civilization (defence, planet quality, courage, creativity, etc.) and i am not quite sure how to get those points.

You don't do anything to gain extra points; each race has a fixed amount of points with which to buy extra abilities in addition to those that come naturally. It's just a way for you to customize the races to your liking. If you want different bonuses next time you play, you can just un-pick the abilities you picked before to recover the points, and spend them differently.
