Stargate SG1 Theme.

Hi Gang.

I have been away from the forums for a while as work has been pretty hectic (the slave drivers that they are) and I have been out of touch with any new developments regarding this Fantastic Theme.

I am still having the problem of the start button which makes the items in the "all programs" menu list do strange animations when using the SG1 Theme.

I'm on the latest Window blinds, but I am confused as to why this is happening.

I did contact the author who said that there had been an amendment to the file, and I should go get the latest one, which I did, but no joy.

Whats happening is this, when I click on the start button, and let the main menu come up, I am sometimes having weird animation effects, which if I don't click away from it pretty quick ends up with me looking at a blue screen of death.

it kinds of shows me the main menu, and tries to superimpose a smaller menu over the top of it

I can get this to work some of times, but then it starts to play up again.

I am wondering if there is a specific "Service" that has to be running for WB, I do have the themes etc running on auto, but I also sometimes boot my machine into a second profile for gaming, and I'm wondering if there is a specific service that needs to be running that isn't.

I have though had this happen to me a couple of times in the normal / standard profile as well, so perhaps it not related to a profile at all.

I'm just confused at whats happening, and welcome any suggestions that anyone may have.

I just love this theme because it's so easy on the eye when using the PC, and think that the author has done an outstanding job with it.

I'm on Win XP Pro with SP2, and a P4 3.0 CPU with a Gainward 7800 GT 512MB Garphics Card.

Thanks.

Did you delete the old version of the skin before you installed the new one? If not, it may not have updated properly. Just be careful that you do not have the skin applied when you delete it. Switch to a different skin first.

If you do have the updated version installed, there should be a substyle to choose that is called Stargate SG1static. That one has no animations and should work for you.

A couple of people have had an similar issue , Myself and a few other skinners have tried to pin it down but to no avail. As was mentioned I have updated the theme with a Static user pane for the folks that had a problem , Just Update and choose Static version from the substyle dropdown menu. Their seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Perhaps someone at Stardock can figure out why it is doing it.

Thanks for your kind words, I really poured everything I had into that theme.

canmandeco, your da man,

I did as you said, and hey presto, it's now working just fine.

I should have done that the first time, but oh well, stupid is stupid as I suppose.

I hate to sound ungrateful, but you know what would be really great with this theme, sounds and animations. especially if we could have small ring animations with sound when copying files etc, this would really be the icing on the cake for all of us that like this theme so much.

perhaps the author might consider doing something like this, it would certainly be different and fantastic.

Thanks again.

I probably wont be adding any further animations to the theme at the present time, I have two new themes I am working on. Again , thanks for the compliments.
