Windows xp Professional x64 edition. Is it compatible?

Planets and ships spinning out of control is most generally due to the use of an Athlon 64 x2 CPU without updated CPU drivers. If this the case with your machine, download and install the AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) file found at the bottom of this page.

It can also be due to stardock games like most games not recognizing the core speed of the AMD 64 chip, dual core or not. AMD has a driver fix for this that bypasses the windows checksum that is sent to the program and sends the checksum directly from the chip of it's max core speed. I found once that I had this fix installed, every game I had tried with XP64 that didn't work now works perfectly.
