UxTheme.dll not found error on launch of last 2 betas.

I installed OD 1.59[b].010 and also the previous 1.58[b].???. Both error out when launched, complaining about:

ObjectDock.exe - Unale to Locate DLL

The dynamic link library UxTheme.dll could not be found in the specified path C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock;;C:\WINNT\System32;...

I searched my hard drive for the dll and it was not found. What do I do? If I uninstall the beta and reinstall 1.50, OD works fine.

If you are running XP, the 'uxtheme.dll' file should be in: "C:WINDOWS\System32" folder.

If you are running XP and you do not have the file, you can download it here: http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/U/uxtheme.dll/6.00.2900.2180/download.html

As for ObjectDock, if one version does not work and one does, you might as well stick with the one that works. Beta's are after all not ready for prime time.

Good luck.

The problem is that I am using Win2K SP4 and I do not seem to be able to find a UxTheme.dll for win2K. WHen I looked at the information about OD 1.60, the article said that it ran on win2k, so what's up with the UxTheme.dll issue? Can I get it for win2k from somewhere?

I don't think that Win2K used that file (it is used for the 'theme' service in XP), nor why ObjectDock would be looking for it. Perhaps the developer will drop by.

We'll see about fixing that Monday with a refresh.

I'm not the developer, but I know enough about the problem to say that he should be able to fix it, although if there is additional functionality related to the use of that DLL, it will not be available to Win2k users. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
