Windowblinds does not say this videocard support wddm or per pixel...

Okay, so it's not my 8800, but this card supports wddm, I looked it up...

It's a 9600 pro.

It should be fine, but windowblinds doesn't mention anything...

Does it have to?

Using registered version BTW.

Reason why I ask is some things don't appear transparent, like start menu.

Has windowblinds incorrectly identified this pc??

AFAIK ATi 9700+ and Nvidia 5200+ support WDDM.

No, according to ATI, all the way down to their 9500 series support wddm.

I know damn well it should work. I have a friend whose dad has a 9600 pro, and his pc runs aero glass just fine...

Could it be because this machine has home basic?

Home Basic can run Aero, but without see-through glass. If you are seeing the Vista Basic theme (no shadows on the window borders) then that means you don't have WDDM drivers installed. Have you installed the latest ATi drivers?

Huh.

I would imagine it would at least support wddm.

I guess this is so that you can't add aero glass back on your own :-\

It's all about the registry.
