XP doest not completely boot

Purchased and installed full version of WindowBlinds 5(5.5 build 94 x86) on my laptop (Dell Latitude D820. Display is NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120M with docking station)

Problem is when I shutdown OS, then undock from dock station. Next time I try to boot-up, XP does not completely boot-up. Desktop just sits (no taskbar, no icons showing up). Tried waiting for 10 minutes but to no avail). Same problem when I dock and boot-up. In both situations, either forcing shutdown and rebooting, or uninstalling WindowsBlinds, seems to fix problem. Please help.

fyi: I have latest version of video driver installed

Once up and running with WB loaded - open WB config > click the view my system information and post all the info (can copy/paste)

Here are the system info. Also, I can Ctrl-Alt-Del to start Task Manager (can start some app, like mspaint. Starting explorer.exe from TaskManager only adds it to the tasklist , but still does not show taskbar

As a test, open WB config select and apply Windows Classic, this will prevent WB from loading at start up, reboot to see what happens. If everything is ok I would suggest a borked download or install of WB. Uninstall WB using odnt zapper download
Then download and install (if you do not have already) Stardock Central download register and install WB thru Stardock Central.

Also the date for your Wbload.exe looks off compared to mine. If you had the trial version first did you uninstall it before installing full version.(this is a must do.)

From system info on another thread, the date for your Wbload.exe seems to be for the Vista version of WB. Uninstall and reinstall, Wbload.exe date for XP is 2006/03/13.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled WindowBlinds several times already. All the times wbload.exe 's date is still showing up as 2006/09/30. Oh, yah I had the trial version before, but I did uninstall that version before installing this registered copy. Deleting

sorry typing too fast.
that is - "deleting Stardock folder still reinstalls the same dated version of wbload.exe"

this a standalone download/install or a download and install via the SDC browser?
this is a standalone WindowBlinds install, downloaded via link from email from stardock sales

uninstall, reboot, run a reg cleaner (ccleaner is free)
if you didn't get a link to the Stardock Central Browser (SDC) you can get it here

install and run SDC, register your serial # (tools > register {pick Object Desktop on the left and WB in the drop down list} - use SDC to download and install

i now have the correct version of wbload.exe after uninstalling, then installing from SDC. I just have to test my docking problem with this correct version (after I return to work). I just wonder why the download link from the sales group installs an incorrect version of wbload.exe.

The standalone version is basically the same version as the trial version except for the activation stuff.

uninstalled, run reg cleaner, then re-installed from stardock central. this time correct version of wbload.exe installed, but still same problem. I am ready to give up. I m assuming docking-undocking scenarios were not part of stardocks test

I don't have a laptop, so I got nothing.

I am willing to bet docking-undocking is done at Stardock, but with so many variables between makes/models/internals/etc., they probably can't cover everything.

have you put in a ticket?

i have the same issue. If while in the taskmanager, i end the "explorer.exe" process it "fixes" the problem at the cost of loosing the cursor. i have also found that booting to a previous good setting only works about 50% of the time. When it does work the Task bar opens & closes while XP boots. When it does not boot properly the TaskBar Freezes in the open possition. i was hoping to find an answer here. until then i will continue to toy around with it.  THNX.

To CHrisalcoalt: I had a similar problem where taskbar would not load. Tried all the fixes and nothing worked. Created a new User (administrator) and transferred anything that mattered, then applied the WB configuration I wanted to that user and everything was fine. It was easier to do than I thought it would be. Don't think any of it had anything to do with WB, but it did happen right after installing an ObjectDock update directly from SD (which made me wonder). Good luck, anyway.

I have this problem as well, every reboot its back to the black ui crap and have to unload and reload.. I just registered it through SDC and going to see if it changes that..

Sometimes I've had the same problem where XP bootup hangs. I've found by pressing ctrl+alt+del to bring up the task manager and selecting Shut Down from the top menu and then Log Off, Windows will then shut down with one of the processes terminating (I'm not sure which one) and show the Log In screen. I then Log In and everything is fine. This doesn't happen often for me, just once in awhile, and I am using a Beta Build.
