Best... event.... ever.

Event that happened in my game, absolutely amazing.

In Galactic Civilizations II, I just had something amazing happen. The Yor used a device, that turned all of the class 0 worlds in a 5x5 section of the large galaxy I was in, into class 16 worlds.

Over 50 class 16 worlds...where I had over 30,000 BC saved up to mass produce ships... I feel like I've just been handed the keys to the universe.

It happened right next to me, on my borders. And I designed colony ships that can move at about 28 squares a turn, with that money to mass produce them.

I didn't know that there were events that were quite that massive...

Well it pretty much ended the game for me because I was terran rank 1 at the time and the arceans (rank 9) found the precursor device and there were high class planets in a 2-sector radius around their discovery. Unfortunately, they were next to the altarians (rank 2) that I was at war with. I'm sure you can guess who ended up with all those juicy high class planets

I have learned to turn the special events off.
They totally spoil the game for me.

Hey, I get tired of hearing people say that these things are an end to their games. Maybe it's an end to the strategy of rolling over everyone else. But what about changing strategy and trying to ally with the Altarians until they're the last ones you have to deal with? I've had many games where I was at the bottom, and I've worked with alliances and diplomacy until I could climb up a bit. Then you can attack races you wouldn't have been able to conquer before.

The war wasn't go well in the first place cause I was fighting them and their allies the torians (whom I was focused on fighting at the moment) It was the nail in the coffin as the altarians and torians combined were stronger than me and I had neither the time nor resources to fight them for control of those planets and fend off the torians at the same time. This event effectively doubled the number of habitable planets in that galaxy, 90% of which were taken by the altarians and filled with industrial sectors rather quickly
