Problems after Vista Upgrade

WindowBlinds not working

Here is my system info:Your computer has a Windows Experience Index base score of 1

Your Windows Graphics Experience score is 1.9

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.5 (build 94 x86))

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC

(Generic PnP Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)

Wblind.dll 2007/03/13 09:50:20
Wbsrv.dll 2007/02/07 18:31:19

Wbhelp.dll 2004/09/18 17:37:07
Tray.dll 2006/04/28 19:26:49
Wbload.dll 2005/01/22 19:05:07 WB would only pop up an error msg indicating it needed to reboot, even after a re-boot. It was not available in control panel, had to unistall stardock central and then re-installed it. Same error from WB. Looked in folder, saw WBVista.exe. Ran it - nothing happened. Clicked on WB and it came up. I can get sys info, look at blinds, look at and select wallpapers and switch them. If I change a blind, the please wait message appears and screen fades, then clears and no new blind. Still in Vista. Top of WB window is missing, but can click on close. Also now having a problem with Stardock Central, wants to upgrade to WB5.5.23, but crashes each time I let it try.

32bit Vista Ultimate. Also, I forgot to mention that I no longer have a WB option on the Start Menu under Object Desktop. The only options there are Deskscapes and Logon Studio Vista.

When I started Stardock Central this morning, I said no to upgrading WB, then selected it in the list and told it to upgrade, to see if it acted any different than upgrading from the startup prompt. It did. It actually completed the upgrade this time. After the re-boot, WB starts correctly when I click on the quick start icon. It still does not show up on the start menu. In WB I can select any of the options, but when I click on "apply my changes" for a new blind - nothing happens except a quick screen flash. It will apply my changes to a new wallpaper, but not a blind. Here is my system information display:

Well, I was playing around in WB and selected "Windows Aero" blind (which looks like it is the default Vista skin) and clicked apply my changes. WB blew up. Vista Explorer blew up. When it finally replaced itself, I opened WB again and tried selecting other blinds and they all appear correctly now. Still no WB option in the start menu, but I can live with that, since I have it in the quick launch. Love the new Stargate One blind...

when I click on "apply my changes" for a new blind

To apply a new skin, you have to select it from the list and clik (on the preview) the "Apply this skin now" option.

The "Apply my changes" only affect any settings changes you have made to WindowBlinds itself. This has nothing to do with changing skin.

Raider66: Your pc should not be getting a Windows experience score of 1.0.  Thats far too low

score of 1.0

maybe that's why it blew up...

I have a Sony Vaio with 3.2GHz CPU, 1.5GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GS w/ 256MB. Why IS my rating so low? Everything shows up in Device Manager as running OK (no problems displayed).

You have a Microsoft Corporation Driver installed. That can mean poor performance. You should download version 100.65 from Nvidia and then rerun the evaluation again.

I was wondering about that score as well, I didn't think it would run at all that low.

I had to face exactly the same problem after upgrading Vista on my pc. As I am not a very tech savvy I sought help from http://www.supportonclick.com. The staffs out there had helped me a lot to trouble shoot all the problems. I know a lot of people who have to face a lot of trouble while upgrading Vista. If they ask me I suggest them to visit supportonclick. Most of them get help from them. I think you shpould also do the same. I hope your problem will be solved at once.
